New to Grow
Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UNC Charlotte and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Fullerton. I have three years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, supporting concerns such as anxiety, stress, adjustment issues/life transitions, and ADHD. I aim to help clients navigate life’s challenges, better understand themselves, and develop practical tools to feel more confident and supported.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to help you feel comfortable and supported. In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you—what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re facing, and what you hope to gain. We’ll begin identifying goals that feel meaningful to you. I create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can share at your own pace. I may ask open-ended questions to better understand your background, relationships, and experiences. At the end of the session, you’ll have time to ask questions, and we’ll begin creating a plan for future sessions that aligns with your goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I bring a warm, friendly, and empathetic approach to every session, creating a space where you can feel comfortable and supported. At the same time, I’m able to be direct and offer honest feedback—or “tough love”—when it’s helpful for your growth. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches and tailor each session to fit your unique needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. I strive to meet you where you are, with understanding and respect for your individual experiences. I also focus on helping you build practical coping strategies that you can use in your daily life to better manage challenges and feel more confident moving forward.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with clients who are ready to make a change in their lives but may be unsure of where to start. I enjoy supporting those who are open to the therapy process and looking for guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies. I particularly love working with clients who are willing to explore new perspectives, try different coping skills, and actively engage in their growth and self-discovery
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate CBT-based interventions in my practice to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns and unhelpful behaviors. I teach practical coping skills such as cognitive reframing, behavioral activation, relaxation techniques (like deep breathing) to manage health symptoms. These evidence-based tools provide actionable steps that help clients build resilience and cope more effectively with stress.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT-based interventions to help clients manage intense emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and improve their relationships. In therapy, I teach skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to help clients navigate challenging situations without escalating them. These strategies support a balance between emotional acceptance and meaningful behavioral change.
Eclectic
I use an eclectic therapy approach that integrates evidence-based techniques—such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness—to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and goals. This flexible approach allows me to adapt strategies based on a client’s personality, concerns, and presenting challenges. By avoiding a one-size-fits-all model, I can more effectively address complex mental health concerns.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I incorporate person-centered therapy by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This approach allows clients to guide the direction of sessions while exploring their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. By fostering a safe therapeutic relationship, clients are empowered to build self-awareness, strengthen self-esteem, and move toward personal growth and self-acceptance.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use solution-focused therapy as a goal-oriented, future-focused approach that helps clients build on their strengths and existing resources rather than focusing solely on the origins of problems. This approach empowers clients to create achievable solutions and build momentum toward their goals.
