Ida Ramos
Hello, I’m Ida Ramos, a Licensed Professional Counselor serving clients in Texas and Washington with 11 years experience. I work with adults, couples, and veterans who struggle with anxiety, depression, and life transitions. As a bilingual counselor fluent in English and Spanish, I provide a warm, supportive, and culturally responsive space where clients feel safe and understood. I personalize sessions to meet your needs and focus on building trust in the first few sessions. My compassion and personal experiences guide my work, and I am passionate about helping others experience the healing and growth that counseling can provide.
First session
During the first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where they can feel comfortable being themselves. My goal is to begin building trust and getting to know the person behind their concerns, including what they are experiencing, what is important to them, and what they hope to gain from counseling.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a counselor is my ability to connect with people through compassion, empathy, and genuine understanding. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves and sharing their experiences. I believe that building trust is an important part of the counseling process, and I take the time to understand each client as an individual. What makes me stand out is the combination of my professional experience and my personal understanding of how meaningful counseling can be. Having experienced the positive impact of counseling during difficult times in my own life, I understand how important it is to have someone who truly listens, supports, and believes in you. I bring that same compassion to my work with clients.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to be heard, supported, and understood as they navigate challenges in their life. I enjoy working with individuals who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or difficult life transitions and who are looking for a safe and supportive space to work through what they are experiencing. I especially value working with clients who are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences and are willing to take steps toward positive change at their own pace. My goal is to meet each client where they are without judgment and help them recognize their strengths, build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and feel more empowered in their lives.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress and help them develop healthier, more balanced ways of thinking. Depending on the client's needs, I may use techniques such as cognitive restructuring, identifying triggers, challenging negative thoughts, mindfulness, grounding, journaling, and developing healthy coping strategies. I also help clients recognize patterns in their behavior and explore alternative responses that can support their emotional well-being.
Interpersonal
I use Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to help clients understand how their relationships and interactions with others can affect their emotional well-being. I work collaboratively with clients to explore relationship patterns, communication difficulties, unresolved conflicts, changes in important relationships, and life transitions that may be contributing to emotional distress. I help clients identify their feelings and needs while developing healthier ways to communicate and connect with others. This may include practicing assertive communication, establishing healthy boundaries, improving problem-solving skills, and exploring ways to strengthen supportive relationships. I also help clients process grief and adjust to changes in their relationships or circumstances.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use mindfulness-based techniques to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. I encourage clients to focus on the present moment rather than becoming overwhelmed by past experiences or worrying about what may happen in the future. Depending on the client's needs, I may incorporate breathing exercises, grounding techniques, meditation, body scans, and mindful awareness of emotions. These strategies can help clients slow down, recognize emotional triggers, reduce stress, and respond to difficult situations more intentionally rather than reacting impulsively.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their own reasons for change and build confidence in their ability to move forward. I take a collaborative, nonjudgmental approach and meet clients where they are, recognizing that change happens at different stages and at an individual pace. I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, affirmations, and supportive feedback to help clients identify their strengths, values, goals, and personal motivations. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I encourage them to explore their options and recognize their own ability to make meaningful decisions.
