About me

Hi and welcome. I'm Julie Haggerty. I received my master degree in advanced practice nursing from the University of IL at Chicago. I have been a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner since 2009. I enjoy working with clients to help them get a better understanding of the issues they are dealing with and find better ways to deal with the issues and their life stressors. I utilize talk therapy and if needed will prescribe medication to help improve symptoms.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session typically takes about an hour. I will gather a lot of information about your history and have you complete some screening tools which will help me get a better understanding of the issues you are dealing with so I can establish an appropriate diagnosis. We will then work together to set goals and make a plan to work towards achieving your goals. I will provide treatment through talk therapy and will prescribe medication if needed. Some medications will require lab work or diagnostic testing to be done initially and at intervals throughout your treatment while taking the medication and arrangements will be made so I can received the lab results.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am an attentive listener with an empathetic approach which allows me to gain a better understanding of what my patients are going through. I have worked with patients of all ages dealing with various mental health issues so I have gained a lot of experience that will help me better assist you to deal with your mental health struggles and work towards improving them.

I have experience working with clients throughout the life span that are dealing with various mental health issues. I look forward to assisting clients to improve their life.
