As a young child, I always knew I wanted to help others in some way. As life unfolded and I experienced a few negative events, I decided to embark on a new trajectory and study psychology to better understand human behavior. My passion is helping individuals see their life or situation through a new lens, one that doesn’t allow their past to dictate their future. I am a firm believer that we are the only ones who limit ourselves and we will only go as far as our thoughts let us. I have experience working with victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. When I started my private practice, I discovered a love for couples. My couples therapy approach is influenced by the Gottman Method. It’s an effective treatment method that helps improve marital relationships, adjustment, and intimacy. My goal is to help you learn effective communication skills, how to be empathetic, how to remove barriers that lead to conflict, and how to increase affection.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You are not alone! In therapy, we can work together to undue some of those negative self-bashing thoughts, become self-aware of when it happens, learn healthy thinking patterns to help you feel better, and strengthen your communication skills so you can express your needs and wants.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Although I love working with couples, I also enjoy working with clients who have symptoms of depression and anxiety. I tailor my approach to fit the needs of each client. The theoretical approaches I utilize are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and client-centered techniques. I assist my clients in becoming self-aware and identifying the negative cognitive distortions that cause fear, stress, uncertainty, self-doubt, and anger. I love to teach clients skills to undo the default pathways and develop more positive and healthy thinking patterns.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am utilizing EMDR therapy in my clinical practice. EMDR is a model of therapy that is widely regarded as one of the best and most effective in the treatment of PTSD, phobias, anxiety, and other psychological conditions.
