Hi, it's nice to meet you; I'm Katie. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and earned my Master’s Degree from Lakeland University. Outside of my professional work, I live in Waunakee, Wisconsin, on five acres with my partner, our three dogs, a rabbit, and a colony of bee's. Much of my free time is spent caring for and enjoying our animals. I also love reading, cooking, gardening, and traveling. One of my favorite passions is showing my horse, Rip, competitively. My life outside of work has given me many opportunities to appreciate the importance of patience, connection, curiosity, and being present in the moment. Whether I'm working with clients, spending time with my animals, gardening, or traveling somewhere new, I value the opportunity to learn more about the world and the people in it.

First session

I strive to create a warm, supportive, and authentic environment where people feel comfortable exploring their experiences with curiosity and compassion. I believe that developing a deeper understanding of ourselves can create opportunities for meaningful growth, increased self-awareness, and positive change.

Strengths

I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my work, supporting clients in developing deeper understanding. One of the unique aspects of my practice is offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. For many, healing begins with reconnecting to the body, and working with horses offers a powerful path to that reconnection.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are individuals across the lifespan who are looking to better understand themselves and the experiences that have shaped how they relate to themselves, others, and the world around them. I work with people navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, relationship challenges, or a sense of disconnection from themselves. I especially value working with clients who are ready to become more curious about their patterns, understand where those patterns may come from, and develop new ways of responding to difficult emotions and experiences. My goal is to create a space where clients can feel understood, supported, and empowered to develop a deeper connection with themselves.

Treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I believe therapy is most meaningful when we work together to understand what is happening beneath the surface rather than simply focusing on symptoms. Using DBT and IFS-informed approaches, I help clients develop greater emotional awareness, build practical coping skills, and explore the different parts of themselves with curiosity rather than judgment.
