Psychoeducation is a therapeutic intervention that helps patients learn and understand mental health and wellbeing. I use this treatment method to empower patients with information and guidance to improve their quality of life. With psychoeducation, clients are able to understand their health condition including symptoms, treatments and prognosis. It helps client learn coping strategies, improve their problem solving and communication skills. i often use psychoeducation in treating mental illness such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, schizophrenia, and eating disorders. Provider clear information to clients about their mental health conditions helps to improve understanding, support, and treatment outcomes.
With person centered approach, I prioritize the client's individual needs, perspectives and desires as the central focus in treating the patients. Bassically treating each client as the "expert" on his or her own life and tailoring my interventions and support to their specific needs and not imposing a "one -size fits all solution". I work with the client as an individual and allow 100% participation in the decision making as far as recommendations for treatment. My experience with this approach augurs mutual respect, understanding and trust between the provider and the client.
