Dr. Monique Vorous, PsyD
My clinical experience includes working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and a wide range of psychiatric concerns. I have specialized training in both chronic pain management and addiction treatment, allowing me to support clients facing complex physical and emotional challenges. As a psychologist, my goal is to empower individuals to create meaningful, fulfilling lives aligned with their values. I view therapy as a collaborative process and strive to help clients become active participants in achieving their personal goals. Regardless of the reason someone seeks therapy, I believe that a safe, supportive, and trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful growth and lasting change.
First session
During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another and discussing what has brought you to therapy. I'll ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and what you hope to gain from treatment. Together, we'll begin identifying meaningful goals to guide our work. The initial session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of my therapeutic style and determine whether you feel we're a good clinical fit.
Strengths
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in understanding the unique experiences that have shaped each individual. I believe it is important to explore the factors that have contributed to current challenges, identify personal values, and develop realistic, individualized coping strategies that support meaningful therapeutic goals. I also incorporate psychoeducation when it is helpful, as understanding how thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences interact can empower lasting, sustainable change. My goal is to help individuals build practical skills that reduce distress, foster resilience, and support long-term well-being.
Ideal clients
I work with adults in individual therapy and have extensive experience treating a broad range of mental health concerns. My areas of specialization include supporting individuals living with chronic medical conditions, as well as those experiencing anxiety and depressive disorders. I also work with a variety of general adult psychiatric concerns, helping individuals develop effective coping strategies, improve emotional well-being, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
