New to Grow
Hi, I'm Teranesha, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Virginia. Over the past five years, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults across inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. My experience supporting individuals through a variety of mental health challenges has strengthened my passion for helping clients build resilience, gain insight, and create meaningful change. I am especially passionate about working with teens and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, relationship challenges, and everyday stressors. I understand that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and I strive to create a welcoming, supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences and work toward their goals. My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and strength-based. Together, we will identify practical coping strategies, increase emotional awareness, and build on your existing strengths to help you navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and balance. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward growth, healing, and emotional wellness.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your concerns, and explore your goals for therapy. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, any current challenges or stressors you may be experiencing, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. I may also ask questions about your background, relationships, and overall well-being to gain a better understanding of your experiences. My goal is to begin creating a personalized plan that aligns with your unique needs and goals.
My greatest strengths include building authentic therapeutic relationships, helping clients gain deeper insight into their thoughts and emotions, and translating that insight into meaningful change. I take a collaborative and person-centered approach, balancing emotional support with practical strategies that help clients build confidence, resilience, and effective coping skills for everyday life.

Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and build practical coping skills to better manage anxiety, depression, stress, and everyday challenges.
Strength-Based
I believe every client has strengths, resilience, and abilities that can support their growth. I use a strength-based approach to help clients recognize what is already working, build confidence, and develop a greater sense of empowerment when facing challenges.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. Through a warm, collaborative, and judgment-free environment, I help clients explore their experiences, build self-awareness, and move toward their personal goals.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness helps clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences in the present moment. I incorporate mindfulness techniques to help clients manage stress, regulate emotions, reduce overthinking, and respond to challenges with greater intention and balance.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy focuses on identifying strengths, building on existing successes, and creating practical steps toward change. I use this approach to help clients clarify goals, recognize progress, and develop realistic strategies that support meaningful growth and problem-solving.
