New to Grow
I am a dedicated clinician with over 25 years of experience in the human services field, including the past 10 years providing counseling to diverse populations. I have worked with adolescents, children, trauma survivors, individuals experiencing homelessness, older adults, and those struggling with addiction, anxiety, and grief. I take a compassionate, client-centered approach, creating a supportive space where clients can build insight, develop coping skills, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we begin getting to know each other. I will gather important background and clinical information to better understand your concerns, history, and current needs. We will also discuss what brings you to therapy, identify initial treatment goals, and begin developing a plan tailored to you. This session is also an opportunity to start building a strong therapeutic relationship, where you can feel heard, respected, and comfortable asking questions about the process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths as a clinician are being client-centered, trauma-informed, practicing harm reduction, and culturally aware. I focus on your unique needs and goals, creating a safe space where you feel heard and understood. I am sensitive to the impact of trauma and work to empower you without causing further stress. I support clients in making safer choices and gradual progress, and I respect and honor your cultural background and life experiences throughout our work together.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to serve adult men and women who are seeking support with managing grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. I work well with individuals who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or challenged by life transitions, and who are motivated to better understand themselves and improve their emotional well-being. I support clients who are open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and who are interested in developing practical coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and working toward meaningful, value-driven goals.
Integrative
I have over 25 years of experience in the human services field, working with diverse populations across a range of clinical needs. My treatment philosophy is rooted in an integrated, client-centered approach that is tailored to meet each individual’s unique circumstances and goals. I am skilled in evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I have extensive experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders, as well as those struggling with grief, depression, anxiety, and trauma, supporting them in achieving emotional stability, improved functioning, and sustained recovery.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop psychological flexibility by learning to accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than avoiding or struggling with them. With individuals experiencing grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, or co-occurring disorders, I guide them in identifying their core values and support them in committing to meaningful actions aligned with those values. Through mindfulness, cognitive defusion, and acceptance strategies, clients build healthier relationships with their internal experiences while increasing their ability to engage in purposeful, value-driven living.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to distress related to grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. By increasing awareness of the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, I support clients in developing more balanced thinking patterns and effective coping strategies. This approach helps reduce symptoms, improve emotional regulation, and promote healthier behavioral responses in daily life.
Grief Therapy
I use grief therapy to support clients in processing loss at their own pace while creating a safe, compassionate space to express and explore their emotions. I help clients understand the grieving process, normalize their experiences, and work through feelings such as sadness, anger, guilt, or confusion. Through meaning-making, coping strategies, and connection to supports, I assist clients in integrating the loss into their lives while fostering healing and the ability to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their symptoms, diagnoses, and the impact of grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring disorders on their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By providing clear, accessible information, I empower clients to recognize patterns, reduce stigma, and develop insight into their experiences. This knowledge supports the development of effective coping strategies and enhances their ability to actively participate in their treatment and recovery.
