Trish Romig
I'm Trish — a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience in trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, personality disorders, and the kind of stuck-ness that can feel impossible to explain to someone who hasn't lived it. My background is deep in complex, high-stakes mental health work, and I bring that clinical grounding into a private practice setting that feels nothing like a clinical office. I work with adults who are genuinely ready to understand themselves better and make real changes — not just vent. If you're looking for someone who will listen carefully and also tell you the truth, you're in the right place. I also accept several major insurance plans, so therapy doesn't have to mean a full out-of-pocket commitment.
First session
Your first session is a chance for me to understand what brought you to therapy, what you've been experiencing, and what you'd like to change. You don't need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. We'll start making sense of what's happening together and identify some initial goals. My hope is that you leave feelings heard, understood, and clearer about what our work can look like together.
Strengths
I bring warmth, humor, honesty, and a grounded approach to therapy. I'm comfortable sitting with difficult emotions and complicated experiences, but I also believe therapy should lead somewhere. I'll listen carefully, help you recognize patterns you may not see yet, and respectfully challenge you when it can help you grow. My goal is to create a space where you can be completely yourself while also gaining practical insight and skills you can use outside of our sessions.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adult who feels stuck in patterns they understand intellectually but haven't been able to change. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, OCD, difficult relationships, or longstanding emotional and behavioral patterns. I also enjoy working with veterans, first responders, and others accustomed to high-stress environments. You don't need to have everything figured out-just a willingness to be curious, honest, and actively engaged as we work toward meaningful, lasting change.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients recognize how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another and identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck. Together, we'll challenge unhelpful ways of thinking, develop practical coping strategies, and practice new ways of responding to difficult situations. I tailor this work to each client rather than using a one-sized-fits-all approach.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate DBT skills to help you better understand and manage intense emotions, tolerate distress, communicate effectively, and navigate relationships. We'll focus on practical skills you can use in everyday life while balancing acceptance with meaningful change.
Attachment-based
I use an attachment-based approach to explore how early experiences and important relationships may influence the way you connect with others today. Understanding these patterns can help you develop healthier relationships, strengthen boundaries, and respond differently to emotional needs.
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing when you feel unsure, stuck, or conflicted about making a change. Rather than telling you what you should do, we'll explore what matters to you, what may be getting in the way, and what changes feel realistic and meaningful.
Trauma Informed Care
I use trauma-informed approach that recognizes how past experiences can shape emotions, relationships, beliefs, and behaviors. We'll work at a pace that feels manageable while building safety, understanding patterns shaped by trauma and developing healthier ways of coping and moving forward.
