New to Grow
I work informally: client and therapist relate as equals. Most work consists of Socatric questioning, that is, I believe you have the resources and knowlege to make the changes you seek, but need assistance finding and accessing them. As a team, we'll uncover the anwers you seek, the relief from emotional pain you need, and disengagment from unproductive conflicts you seek through a series of questions to which your answers will reveal the course of treament and the resolution that brought you to therapy in the first place.
First sessions usually consist of a review of events leading up to why you are requesting therapy. Sessions may feel more informal than expected. Therapist and client relationships may be reviewed in order to extablish a sense of ease and reduction in feeling anxious or uncertain about the therapy process.
My sessions and methods are "eclectic" in nature, in that the model of therapy is adapted to the unique qualities of the client and their situation. We will explore various methods as we move along getting to know one another and select methods that are most amenable to client needs.
I have extensive experience working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety or depression, couples that are experiencing conflict, individudals who are stuggling with work or career issues. I also have extensive experience working with elder clients, Hospice and end of life counseling. I have also worked successfully with individuals struggling with sex addictions and post adjudicated individuals and groups of sex offenders.
