Hi, I’m Grace Shawley. Originally from North Carolina, I moved to Tennessee for school and have called it home ever since—living in several different cities throughout the state. I'm now in my ninth year as a therapist and have had the privilege of working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, which has given me a well-rounded view of mental health care. Outside of the therapy room, I share my space (and sometimes my sessions) with my dog and two cats—who occasionally make surprise appearances as unofficial therapy assistants. Whether you're navigating life changes, emotional challenges, or just need a space to process and grow, I'm here to walk alongside you with empathy, insight, and care.
During our first session together we will spend the majority of the time getting to know you and completing an initial assessment to help identify the primary concerns going on. I will provide a brief introduction about myself and provide time to answer any questions you may have prior to and after completing the assessment.
I strive to create an environment where the client feels empowered to create positive change. My clinical insight as well as my experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings has helped me meet clients where they are at and adapt therapeutic interventions as needed.
My experience includes working with a wide range of general mental health concerns, but I have a special focus in child and adolescent therapy as well as women’s health. I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where clients of all ages feel seen, heard, and empowered.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and guiding them to develop healthier patterns in each area.
Solution focused therapy focuses on helping clients build solutions rather than analyze problems. It’s a collaborative, strengths-based, and goal-directed approach that emphasizes the client’s existing resources and what’s already working.
Psychodynamic Therapy helps clients gain insight into unconscious patterns, unresolved past experiences, and deep emotional conflicts that shape their present behavior. It's a depth-oriented, exploratory approach rooted in Freudian theory, but modern psychodynamic therapy is more flexible and relational.

I love working with Grace. Our conversations are always validating, and she has helped me work through some really difficult things. I appreciate the way she helps me look inward to learn more about myself while also helping me navigate the external struggles I face. She is patient while listening to all I have to say, and she is really good at following my train of thought as I jump from one thing to the next.
