I am an LPC with a PhD in psychology from Walden University. I have been counseling for almost 20 years. Before that, I was a teacher working with students with emotional concerns and their families. I know that it can be very difficult to take the first step to seek counseling. My intent the moment you “walk through the door” is for you to feel safe, cared for, listened to, and above all, understood. I am not here to judge or condemn. We all have our stuff. Life gets messy. Life can be complicated. I grew up in a Christian family riddled with dysfunction; alcoholism, addiction, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, suicidal ideation, and chronic medical issues. I have also worked in the educational sector with children with behavior issues, ADHD, ODD, OCD, attachment disorder, autism, as well as anxiety and depression. I am a people person. I am empathetic, I listen, I am real, and I can help.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions, your familiarity, concerns, and goals with counseling, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths are first to earn your trust, so you can feel heard and understood, and then to build self-esteem and confidence back into your life, utilizing real life skills that can help you with what you need. I employ strength-based methods that focus on positivity, short-term, solution-based, and action-oriented processing. I help clients bust through their own self-induced hypnotic state of settling for less in life than their true abilities are capable of and help them see life from a different perspective.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with clients of all ages with varying needs. I appreciate the variety of topics and needs. I enjoy conversations that challenge foundational thinking, bring rise to new solutions, and alleviate issues and concerns. My clients are eager to get unstuck and are motivated to learn new coping techniques that bring awareness and the ability to move forward.

Donna is the best. I’ve tried multiple therapists in the past. She is the best. She’s authentic. She legitimately cares. She’s solution-oriented. She listens. She takes notes. It sucks to pay for a friend, but if you have to, Donna is the one to pay for. Therapists, listen, but do they REALLY care? Usually I feel the answer is “no.” But I believe Donna cares about me and cares out my life’s outcomes. I think that’s rare. 10 out of 10.

Donna made me feel instantly comfortable and is extremely authentic and intelligent. Even though I've only had one session, I walked away with multiple tools to use over the next week before I see her again.
