New to Grow
Our MH is apart of us, but it does not define us. Hello and welcome to my page. I am a bubbly person who loves to challenge my clients, help them think outside the box and find solutions. Whether you are here because you are looking or help or because someone you love asked you to be here, you should know we will work on your goals. I believe repport is half the battle. As we establish a report, I remain openminded and supportive yet I will challenge your thinking and ask hard questions as needed. Your story is unique yet you are not alone with your struggles. Many factors have shaped you into who you are today. While learning your story, I will utilize the Person in Environment theory to understand you, Strength Based Theory to focus on your strength, and Solution Focus approach to help you build on your strengths to find positive/lasting solutions. I am a telehealth provider who is available, for your convenience, in the evenings and weekends. Flexibility is important to me.
A first session is a time to build a repport and a foundation for a success therapeutic relationship. We will discuss risk and protective factors, while assessing stability and treatment goals as well as establish boundaries and expectations. Communication is key!
As a former foster youth and growing up in poverty, I have first hand knowledge, understanding, and compassion for those struggling in similar ways. I also have experience of supporting the variety of MH needs of the male incarcerated population. I have compassion and a big heart and I love to challenge thinking and pull from strengths to motivate my patients.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use the CBT modality of therapy to help my patients identify and understand their feelings, which intern can help them with understanding their thoughts and behaviors. With knowledge comes power and understanding one's own cognitive thoughts and behaviors, they can learn to make positive progress towards their goals.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Understanding that sometimes patients want to come and work on a specific topic for therapy, solution focus brief treatment is beneficial, and that we don't necessarily dive deep into your past history. Utilize solution focus brief treatment to focus on specific goals that a patient is requesting to work on. This would be short term therapy with specific, short term goals.
Strength-Based
I'm a stronger believer in this strength based therapy approach and I utilize this quite often. Assisting a patient to overcome deficits or challenging times in their life through first finding their inner strengths and utilizing their own resilience often times allows patients to grow their self-esteem, lower depression and anxiety, overcome trauma, and/or work on challenges in relationships.
