- Are you tired of talking to people but continue to feel unheard? - Have you noticed that you continue to change things in your life but still feel like something is missing? - Do you feel like you keep trying to figure out who you are, yet continue to care for others and not yourself? If you identify with any of these, I’m here to help! My name is Marinieves, but most refer to me as Mary. I work with children, couples, families, and adults, trying to understand and better themselves by processing and learning from their life experiences. In our work together, you will have the opportunity to learn how to identify what is currently posing a challenge in your life and how to overcome it. Using a strength-based approach, we will embrace real conversations in a judgment-free environment that cultivates honesty and transparency. My role will be to provide you with education and serve as a guide as you choose what you want for your life and learn how to get there. Whether you are dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or any other challenge life has offered to you, I am here to listen, meet you where you are at, and walk alongside you while providing culturally pertinent, evidence-based practices and interventions. Let’s see the progress you can make, together! In addition, I am fully bilingual in English and Español. Estoy aquí para ayudarte. Curious to learn more? In our initial session, we will start with brief introductions. We'll then explore the reasons that have led you to seek therapy at this moment. Together, we will identify the goals you wish to achieve during our time in therapy and discuss the strategies we can implement to help you reach those objectives.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to listen and create a safe environment where you can openly discuss the challenges that might be difficult to address. In this supportive space, I encourage authentic conversations because I believe that therapy should be a place where you can truly be yourself. Practicing this openness in therapy can help you carry that skill into other areas of your life. My aim is to help you explore the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This understanding can be beneficial in managing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship conflicts, family issues, and trauma, among others. I work with individuals who are seeking mental peace, striving to shed external expectations, and aiming to build a life that feels more fulfilling to them.
I obtained two concentrations through my master's program in Clinical Counseling Psychology. These were in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Interventions.
I obtained extensive training in IFS to help identify the root of challenges and how to address them.
I am proficient in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through trainings and a certification obtained to help clients use the mindfulness skills of a wise mind to observe, describe, and participate in their daily lives. In my practice, I utilize these skills as a compliment to the work we do.
