I am a graduate of Morehead State University and Campbellsville University. I currently work in a school district as the school social worker where I conduct group therapy, provide psychoeducation, link families to needed resources, and engage in crisis intervention for our high risk students. I have been practicing therapy for approximately 3 years now, and prior to this career path, I worked in the child protection field. During my downtime I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. Summer is my favorite time of the year, but I also really enjoy the holiday season! I'm also very much a book worm and like to read various genres of books.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session together will be a "get to know you" vibe. I will get an idea of what your goals for therapy are and we will discuss any relevant information from your intake documents. I also will go over confidentiality policies with you and give you some insight on what you can expect out of therapy sessions with me!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I like to challenge my clients to think outside of the box and explore how their strengths can positively impact all aspects of their life. Because I come from a background of child protection, I am also very open minded and a good listener when someone just needs a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Ideally, I work best with school aged children and adolescents navigating the ups and downs of growing up. This can include struggling with peer conflict, behavioral challenges, anxiety, emotional regulation, and social skills. They may present at any stage of readiness for change, from reluctant to highly motivated, and benefit from a supportive, skills-based approach that builds insight, confidence, and healthier ways of coping at school, at home, and with their peers.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This treatment modality helps clients understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT focuses on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, challenging negative thoughts, and developing healthier ways of thinking and coping.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This treatment modality focuses on building skills that can help with managing intense emotions, improve relationships, cope with stress, and make healthier choices. Examples of skills that DBT focuses on are mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and effective communication.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

This treatment modality will help clients increase their awareness of their thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in the present moment. It teaches skills to reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and respond to conflict with greater calmness and clarity rather than reacting automatically.

Motivational Interviewing

This treatment modality helps individuals explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. This helps to identify personal goals, explore reasons for change, and build confidence in the ability to make positive changes.

Positive Psychology

This helps to identify and build on strengths, resiliency, and positive emotions rather than focusing only on problems. It focuses on developing gratitude, optimism, meaningful relationships, and a sense of purpose to improve overall well-being and life satisfaction.
