Hi, I'm Lizzie! If you are reading this, I'm proud of you. Starting a journey to get support or become a better version of yourself isn't easy - and you are already doing just that. I have always been someone who finds fulfillment in supporting the people around me. I am a child of divorce, part of a blended family, proud dog mom, have struggled with anxiety, lover of all things arts and crafts and am always looking for ways to make my at home coffee taste like it does when I buy it out. I pride myself in my ability to be direct and honest - I am human and make mistakes every day just like my clients. I believe in taking a collaborative, solution-focused, and person centered approach to therapy (which starts with getting to know you as a person - not a mental health diagnosis). As a therapist, one of my favorite things to do is help people recognize their unique strengths. Throughout the therapeutic process, I like to explore those hidden talents with you so that you can learn to celebrate, embrace, and use your gifts in practical ways. It is my hope that everyone leaves a conversation with me feeling empowered and excited to create changes that move them one step closer to their goals and being the best version of themselves. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Lafayette College and a master’s degree in Social Work from Temple University. I have worked in the hospital setting (inpatient, research and outpatient clinic), schools, community mental health, and private practice outpatient settings (both in-person and virtually). Let’s chat and see if I’m a good fit to help you be your best self!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Clients can expect to be treated as a whole person right from the start. Everyone has a story to tell, and it goes far beyond any mental health challenges they are facing. I want to hear the whole story and will begin our work with asking someone to share only what they are comfortable with. From there, I will work hard to create a safe and judgement-free environment so we can begin to work together in identifying goals to strive for in our time together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I specialize in supporting individuals that are experiencing major (and minor) life transitions. Change is hard for everyone and often comes with feelings of anxiety. I focus on supporting my clients through life's many adventures whether it's going to college and living on their own for the first time, moving back home to try and figure out what comes next, getting a new job, having their first child, having their first neuro-divergent child, and everything in between. I also feel that self-disclosure is a powerful tool in therapy and I use this tool in a way that allows my clients to know that they are not the only ones that have struggles or are alone in their adventure. I like my clients to know that I am not only challenging them to be the best versions of themselves, but I am a teammate striving to do the same every day.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with open-minded individuals who are wiling to try many different solutions until they find what sticks. I provide a space for people to feel supported and challenged to take a step outside of their comfort zones in order to find answers. My favorite phrase to hear from a client is "I never thought of it like that before!" I find it most rewarding to work with individuals who are eager to improve and make changes, but don't yet have the tools needed to make their goals a reality or just don't know where in the world to start. If you are a person who is saying "I feel stuck" - I am the person who will help you get moving again.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

Every person is unique and has something to offer. I provide a space that allows for a person to explore their talents, without judgement, in order to discover how those talents can be 'translated' to support them in real-life situations.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and challenging/re-framing ineffective thought patterns and behaviors. I have found that understanding the powerful connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors is a great first step towards reducing the distress someone may feel during times of heightened emotions and reduce the frequency of those emotions over time.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Learning to accept and observe your thoughts without judgement can be a powerful tool that changes the way you understand your thoughts. I use this form of treatment to support those that often judge themselves or struggle to quiet intrusive/racing thoughts.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT combines mindfulness techniques with behavioral strategies to help people accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or avoiding them. ACT also looks at using values-based actions to increase flexible thinking. I find ACT to be a helpful approach to those that enjoy CBT/Mindfulness work but want to look deeper into understanding their personal values and how they influence their thoughts and feelings.
