Hi there, I'm Sherita. As a therapist, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive, and empowering space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and respected without judgment. I work collaboratively with clients to explore the experiences, patterns, and stressors that may be impacting their emotional well-being, relationships, and daily functioning. My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and grounded in evidence-based practices tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, or emotional overwhelm, I strive to help you develop healthier coping strategies, deeper self-awareness, and lasting tools for personal growth. I understand that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, and I work to create an environment where clients feel comfortable moving at their own pace. My therapeutic style combines empathy, authenticity, and practical skill-building. I value building strong therapeutic relationships and believe meaningful change occurs when clients feel supported, challenged appropriately, and actively engaged in the healing process. I also emphasize measurable progress and individualized care, helping clients identify achievable goals while recognizing and building upon their existing strengths and resilience. Seeking support is a courageous step, and I am committed to walking alongside clients as they work toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first therapy session is a foundation-building experience focused on understanding the client’s concerns, establishing safety and trust, and beginning the process of therapeutic change. Rather than solving problems immediately, the initial session creates the framework for ongoing assessment, collaboration, and treatment planning. We get to talk about next steps and discharge planning and workable goals. At the beginning of the session, I will introduce myself, explain my role, and discusses the purpose of therapy. This phase is important for helping the client feel comfortable and understood. I may also review confidentiality, informed consent, office policies, and the limits of privacy. Clients can expect a warm, nonjudgmental atmosphere where they are encouraged to speak openly about their concerns.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My biggest strengths when it comes to my clients and therapy, are building a therapeutic rapport, cultural sensitivity, faith and support. My niche includes mental health and substance abuse. One aspect that stands out in my therapeutic approach is the emphasis on creating a collaborative, client-centered relationship where clients feel safe, respected, and actively involved in their treatment process. I view therapy as a partnership rather than a one-sided process, and I work to tailor interventions to each client’s unique experiences, strengths, goals, and cultural context. My approach integrates evidence-based methods with individualized care. Depending on the client’s needs, I may draw from cognitive behavioral strategies, trauma-informed care, strengths-based interventions, mindfulness techniques, solution-focused approaches, or insight-oriented exploration. Rather than applying a single method rigidly, I focus on understanding what is most effective and meaningful for each person.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve individuals, couples, and families who are seeking a supportive, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic environment where they can explore challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change. I work well with clients who are motivated to better understand themselves, improve emotional well-being, and develop healthier coping strategies, even if they feel uncertain about where to begin. I commonly support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related concerns, relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem struggles, emotional overwhelm, and challenges with communication or emotional regulation. I also work with clients navigating grief, family conflict, burnout, identity concerns, and difficulties balancing personal, relational, spiritual, or professional responsibilities. My approach is especially beneficial for clients who appreciate a balance of emotional support and practical tools. I work collaboratively to help clients identify patterns, challenge unhelpful thinking, strengthen coping skills, and move toward realistic and meaningful goals. Clients who value structured approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, strengths-based interventions, solution-focused strategies, relationship-centered work, or faith-integrated counseling often connect well with my therapeutic style. I am also well positioned to support clients who want therapy to address both emotional and spiritual well-being through Christian Counseling when desired. I provide a respectful and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore personal values, faith, purpose, healing, and growth as part of the therapeutic process. In relationship work, I support couples seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection, and navigate conflict in healthier ways. I help partners better understand relational patterns and develop skills that support healthier and more fulfilling relationships. Overall, I work best with clients who are seeking healing, self-awareness, personal growth, improved relationships, emotional balance, and practical strategies that can support long-term change and overall wellness.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

When clients experience distorted or negative thinking patterns, they may develop unhealthy emotional and behavioral responses. CBT helps clients recognize these cycles and replace them with more balanced, adaptive patterns. That may be done through addressing problems and patterns, challenging behaviors, problem solving, scheduling meaningful activities, just to name a few.

Christian Counseling

Christian Counseling integrates psychological principles with Christian faith, values, and spiritual practices to support emotional, relational, and spiritual healing. In this approach, therapy addresses mental health concerns while also considering the client’s beliefs, relationship with God, spiritual struggles, and faith-based sources of meaning and resilience.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a strengths-based, goal-directed therapeutic approach that focuses on solutions, existing resources, and future possibilities rather than extensively analyzing problems or past experiences. The approach helps clients identify what is already working in their lives and build upon those strengths to create meaningful change. Solution-focused therapy is collaborative, practical, and often short-term. It emphasizes hope, resilience, and the client’s ability to create change.

Couples Counseling

Couples Therapy, also called relationship therapy or couples counseling, is used to help individuals in relationships improve communication, resolve conflict, rebuild trust, strengthen emotional connection, and navigate life challenges together. The therapeutic process focuses on understanding interaction patterns between partners and helping them develop healthier ways of relating to one another. Relationship therapy can be used for: Communication problems Conflict resolution Infidelity and trust issues Emotional disconnection Parenting disagreements
