New to Grow
Welcome! I'm Samuel, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy should be a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported without judgment. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, and I tailor each session to your unique experiences and goals. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, identity exploration, or life transitions, we'll work together to build practical coping skills, increase self-understanding, and create meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and that's completely okay. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, trusting relationship. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, your personal history, and what you hope to gain from treatment. I'll also answer any questions you have about the therapy process. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer idea of how we can work together moving forward.
I bring empathy, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to meeting each client where they are. My professional training, combined with my own life experiences as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, has given me a deep appreciation for how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. Because of this, I strive to create an affirming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. While I offer support and compassion, I also believe in gently challenging unhelpful patterns and helping clients build practical skills that create meaningful change. I view therapy as a collaborative process where we work together toward your goals at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, navigate life's challenges, and work toward meaningful personal growth. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, and life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you're new to therapy or returning after time away, my goal is to provide a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps us understand how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier ways of responding to challenges, and build practical coping skills you can use in everyday life. My goal is to help you feel more confident managing life's difficulties while creating lasting, meaningful change.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative approach that helps you explore your own strengths, values, and motivations for change. Rather than telling you what to do, I'll help you work through uncertainty, build confidence, and identify realistic goals that feel meaningful to you.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe every person is the expert on their own life. My role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered as we work together toward your goals.
Strength-Based
Rather than focusing only on problems, I help clients recognize their existing strengths and build on them. Together, we'll identify what is already working in your life while developing new skills to overcome challenges and achieve your goals.
Gender-affirming therapy
Gender-affirming therapy means creating a safe, respectful, and supportive space where clients can explore their identity without fear of judgment. I work collaboratively with each person to understand their unique experiences, challenges, and goals while recognizing the impact that family dynamics, relationships, discrimination, and life experiences can have on mental health. My goal is to help clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to live authentically while building resilience and developing practical coping skills that support their overall well-being.
