Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first sessions of counseling, which typically lasts about an hour and a half, you can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you'll have the opportunity to share your story, concerns, and goals in a confidential setting. You will have a chance to talk about what brings you to counseling, including any specific issues or challenges that you are facing. I might ask some questions that gain a better understanding of your background, current situation, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. Together, we will start to establish a trusting and collaborative relationship. By the end of the first session, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of the issues we will begin to work on and have a sense of connection with your therapist. Please remember, counseling is a journey, and the first session is just the beginning of your path towards healing and growth.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths lie in my extensive experience working with people, coupled with a deep insight into life's challenges and heartaches. I offer empathy and compassion, providing a safe environment where individuals can find hope and begin the journey toward restoration. Together, we'll navigate life's twists and turns, empowering you to continue forward with renewed strength and purpose.

Together, we'll work towards restoring your sense of purpose and guiding you back to the person you were meant to be.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a practical approach that focuses on changing negative patters of thinking and behavior. The goal would be to help one identify and challenge harmful thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and gradually change their behaviors to achieve one's therapeutic goals.

EMDR

To help individuals process traumatic memories and experiences. One is guided through sets of bilateral stimulation, which could be eye movements, taps, or sounds while the client focuses on distressing memories or beliefs. This process helps to reprocess these memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing the individual to develop more adaptive coping mechanisms. EMDR helps clients overcome trauma and related symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I'm currently trained in EMDR, but looking to be certified as well.

Christian Counseling

The biblical principles and values guide my therapeutic process. I do not impose my beliefs on the client, but if the client wants to pursue the strength and healing through Jesus Christ, I will help one explore and deepen their relationship with God while working through personal struggles and issues.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy focuses on exploring and understanding the impact of early attachment experiences on an individual's emotional and relational patterns. This approach examines attachment styles and dynamics, one can develop healthier relational patterns, heal attachment wounds, and cultivate secure connections with themselves and others.

Polyvagal Therapy

This method is used to understand how the nervous system responds to stress, trauma, and social interactions. This helps one to recognize the physiological responses and learn strategies to regulate their nervous system, reduce anxiety, and improve emotional regulation.

Every session she is always so receptive and insightful. She is also very supportive and takes a natural approach to my healing. If there is ever something I am too dis-regulated to work on or feel unsafe, she slowly moves away from the topic to reassure my well-being while also preventing a rough/sudden disconnect.

I absolutely love this time I have with Ms Lori Pollard. I know she has other sessions, however I feel I am the only one. She knows me, and how to get me to think about what I am already feeling. I appreciate how I have grown because of her assistance and guidance.

I think Lori is amazing, she has helped me so much with my mental health issues. I struggle very badly with anxiety and fear of abandonment and she has helped guide me in the kindest and most understanding way. She truly cares about her clients and their wellbeing.
