Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an intervention that challenges the client to identify the correlation between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Identifying these connections can help clients figure out their patterns, motivations, and strategies for change. CBT is the basis for a variety of therapy interventions.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy for people who experience emotions very intensely. As an off shoot of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT works with clients to find a "middle ground" and challenge "black or white" thinking. DBT is considered the "gold standard" in treating Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). It is highly effective in treating a variety of mental health issues as well.
Schema Therapy helps clients identify unhealthy thoughts and insecurities (Schemas}, the role they play in their relationships, and the root cause of them. Once identified the therapist engages clients in challenging the Schemas (reparenting). Schema Therapy is effective in treating trauma, depression, Eating Disorders, fears and phobias, and Personality Disorders.
