I'm Stephen May, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I combine traditional psychiatry with functional and integrative medicine to offer personalized, whole-person care. My goal is to help individuals uncover and address the root causes of their mental health challenges so they can build lasting emotional balance and resilience. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and shaped by a holistic philosophy. I integrate medication management, nutritional psychiatry, advanced lab testing, lifestyle changes, and mind-body therapies. I believe in a collaborative and empowering process—one that honors your unique biology, story, and goals. I work with people facing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and more. Whether through conventional treatment or functional assessments exploring gut-brain health, hormonal balance, inflammation, or nutrient deficiencies, my focus is on restoring harmony across your physical, mental, and emotional systems. Outside of clinical work, I’m committed to continuing education in integrative psychiatry, neuroscience, and personalized nutrition to better serve those I work with.
In our sessions, you’ll gain practical tools, deeper self-awareness, and a personalized plan tailored to your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. I combine traditional treatments consisting of medication management with integrative approaches to support lasting, whole-person healing.
My greatest strength as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is my ability to combine clinical expertise with genuine empathy and human connection. I believe effective mental health care requires more than prescribing—it requires listening deeply, understanding the whole person, and building a partnership rooted in trust and respect. I take time to understand each client’s unique history, symptoms, and goals before creating an individualized treatment plan. By integrating evidence-based medication management with supportive psychotherapy and lifestyle education, I aim to empower clients to take an active role in their mental health journey. Clients often describe my approach as warm, thorough, and collaborative. I strive to make every session a safe and compassionate space where clients feel heard and never rushed. Whether treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, or mood disorders, I focus on promoting long-term wellness rather than short-term symptom relief. Ultimately, my greatest strength lies in balancing the science of psychiatry with the art of healing—providing care that is both clinically sound and deeply human.
I take a holistic approach to mental health care that blends evidence-based traditional medicine with integrative practices. This means I consider the whole person—mind, body, and environment—when developing a treatment plan. While I utilize standard psychiatric tools such as medication and psychotherapy, I also explore root causes through nutrition, lifestyle, and functional lab testing when appropriate. My goal is to support each client’s unique healing journey with personalized care that fosters balance, resilience, and long-term well-being.
Integrative
In my practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I use an integrative therapy approach that combines evidence-based psychiatric care with holistic, person-centered modalities. I’ve found this approach particularly effective in addressing both the biological and psychosocial aspects of mental health.
