New clients continue care with this provider

Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is based in Georgia. I also have a certification in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Grief Counseling. My Master’s degree is in Mental Health Counseling, which was obtained from St. Thomas University. For the past fifteen years, I have been working as a counselor in multiple sectors including Outpatient Behavior Health, Inpatient Psychiatric facility, and the Emergency department as a Mobile Crisis Counselor. I have co-facilitated a PTSD Women’s Trauma group for the past ten years, helping survivors to overcome the pain of sexual abuse/assault. My experience has further involved helping couples and families to mend fractured relationships by learning how to manage conflict, develop healthy boundaries, and provide support. Working with adults who struggle with feelings of anxiety and depression who desire to learn how to manage unhealthy thoughts and feelings and learn healthy coping skills, is my passion.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is reserved for introductions, completing the intake paperwork, and reviewing the therapeutic process. This time is also designated for exploring the presenting problem, which motivated the client to seek help. A treatment plan will be created, which will serve as a guide for subsequent sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the Helping Profession for the past fifteen years, my approach makes you feel at ease and comfortable disclosing your concerns. You can expect to be challenged in a gentle way which allows you to be introspective as to the source of your problem, as well as gain insight regarding the changes that need to be made to see improvement.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Helping to re-instill hope in individuals who struggle with feelings of helplessness is what I enjoy. My goal is to help clients by equipping them with the tools they need to overcome past hurts, wounds, and obstacles. I help clients move beyond just coping with life’s challenges to thriving and living their fullest potential. I also enjoy working with couples who feel stuck and unfulfilled in their relationship. It is my desire to provide couples with the tools necessary to have a healthy, happy relationship which endures through life’s transitions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Throughout my career as a therapist, CBT has been the most frequently used modality. In the past it has been used to help survivors of sexual abuse/assault identify negative thoughts which, perpetuate the cycle of shame and blame. I have helped individuals recognize how their thoughts influences their feelings, which ultimately impacts how they behave. I have also used CBT to assist those struggling with anxiety and depression, by demonstrating how to develop self-awareness regarding negative thought patterns and challenging those thought patterns.
