Change at any stage in life can cause a whirlwind of emotions—such as excitement, joy, relief and hope; but also worry, fear, concern and uncertainty. The change can be a new job, a new school, a new relationship, a new city, a new identity or a new experience. Therapy is a place that can help you navigate these changes—including the unanticipated stressors, challenges and adversities that you may experience along the way. Therapy is an opportunity that will empower you and mobilize you to reach your goals, dreams and aspirations; and lead you on a path towards a purposeful and meaningful life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I provide services in English or Spanish. My goal is to help you identify your strengths, goals and abilities—and teach you the skills that you need to adjust to the unforeseeable circumstances that life may bring to you. For the last 6 years, I have served multicultural and diverse populations, of all ages, in a variety of settings—including K-12 institutions, forensic mental health, integrated health, inpatient psychiatric care and hospital emergency care. My leadership style is deeply rooted on that values and ethics of the social work practice; and I intend to provide you with a safe, supportive, welcoming and nurturing environment.
I utilize a unique set of engagement, assessment and intervention strategies that can help identify and address the various needs, challenges and barriers that my clients possess. I intend to guide my clients into a journey of self-reflection, self-exploration and self-realization—while establishing a sense of trust, connection and healing in the therapeutic relationship. Under my care, client’s will understand their right to self-determination; and understand their power and efficacy regarding treatment expectations and outcomes. My clients will participate in a series of sessions that will maximize their strengths, skills and abilities; and prepare them to become resilient, determined and successful leaders who are productive, humane and responsive to society.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the foundational model that guides my practice. My clients will understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors; and how this interconnection impacts their ability to solve problems, make decisions, identify strengths and set goals. Through CBT, my clients will gain better insight into their presenting symptoms and inherit the tools and skills needed to overcome the challenges and barriers that impact their social, academic and life functioning. Community and family engagement is a core element of my services because it promotes communication, monitoring and focus through a structured and collaborative framework. I also engage in research, consultation and training on evidence-based practices so that I can strengthen my clinical skills and meet the unique needs of the clients that I serve.
I have the ability to engage clients, assess their needs and identify the strengths that can be used to capitalize their therapeutic journey. I use a combination of client-centered models, empowerment theories and strengths-based practices to meet clients where they are at; and collectively formulate treatment goals that guide them into a place of healing, recovery, peace and resilience. I have the passion, integrity, humility and empathy needed to work with culturally diverse populations—including those who are marginalized, disenfranchised and underserved. I can conceptualize, organize and communicate ideas with my clients; and I demonstrate good insight into personal dynamics, feelings and values—while modeling ethical, transformational, authentic and servant leadership.
