New to Grow
Hi, I'm Ashley Miller, LCSW. For the past 10 years, I've worked with adults navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, and major life transitions, including young adults finding their footing outside of school or a familiar routine, and first responders and military community members carrying the weight of their service. My approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and somatic-aware, and I draw on evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, ACT, and Polyvagal Theory. But the modality always follows you, not the other way around. Whether you're just starting to untangle what's going on or working through something heavy and complex, I meet you exactly where you are. Therapy with me is collaborative, reflective, and judgment-free. Each session is shaped around what you need in that moment, and I bring curiosity, warmth, a sense of humor, and honesty to the work. I'm especially passionate about helping people find their voice and their strength when the systems around them, school, work, family, healthcare, haven't made that easy. On a personal note, I'm a Veteran myself, and supporting others who serve and protect and their family members, whether in uniform or on the front lines of a crisis, means something deeply personal to me. I understand firsthand the weight that community carries, and it's a privilege I don't take lightly. If you're looking for steady, experienced support as you work through this, I'd be glad to help. I'd love to hear from you.
Your first session with me is really just about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to have everything figured out or to know exactly what to say. By the end of it, you won't feel alone in your healing and self-discovery anymore. You'll walk into the following week with a few new skills and tools, and a little more hope for what life could look like for you. Most of all, you'll know that you don't have to carry it all by yourself, that there's someone in your corner who gets it, has either been there or witnessed it, that isn't going to judge you, and genuinely believes in your capacity to change. I'm excited to help you find the solutions that are already inside you.
My background as a therapist is a little unconventional. Before this career, I served in the military, and I've also worked as a Guardian and Conservator in multiple states, spent years navigating the long-term care industry, and worked in schools as a Licensed School Social Worker. Moving through all of those different settings, especially working with kids and families, taught me how to sit quietly and hold space when that's what's needed, and how to gently push when I notice a gap between someone's words and their actions. Whatever helps you meet your goals, I'll work with you to adjust my style to fit what you actually need. I take client feedback seriously and check in regularly on what's working and what isn't, because therapy is never one-size-fits-all. If this kind of flexible, client-led approach sounds like what you need, I'd welcome the chance to work with you.
My ideal client is someone who's motivated to explore the "why" behind their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They come in with an open mind and a willingness to put in the work and to actually feel the "feels" and trust the process, even when it's slow. They're curious about their own patterns, even when that curiosity gets uncomfortable, and they're ready to show up consistently rather than looking for a quick fix. This client values honest feedback, is open to trying new tools between sessions, and understands that real change takes time, patience, and a willingness to sit with hard things before they get easier. If that sounds like you, I'd love to be part of that process.
