(she/her)
Welcome to my page - I'm so happy you are here! My name is Katrina and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from San Jose Sate University and have been in the field for over 6 years. I am very passionate about working with clients experiencing life transitions or making important life decisions. Whether a client is navigating difficult relationships, experiencing a change in the family, or needing to process stressors in their life, I am here to support them throughout the way! I love partnering with clients and helping them to better know themselves and how they engage with the world around them.
In our first session, we will get to know each other and discuss what brought you to therapy. This will help us identify goals and topics that will support you in your therapeutic journey.
I am here to partner alongside my clients and support them as they navigate their relationships, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With years of working with clients processing relationship issues and trauma, I utilize a strengths-based and compassionate approach, that empowers clients to cultivate a life that is meaningful to them.
It's very common and natural to feel overwhelmed and stressed during big life changes. I empower and partner with my clients as they process through all of the thoughts, feelings, and sensations that accompany different experiences. My clients are open to change and motivated to process their thoughts and feelings. Together we will identify tools to support you in managing difficult moods, thoughts, and behaviors.
Trauma Informed Care
I utilize a trauma-informed approach when working with clients in order to support them in better understanding themselves and how they interact in the world. I have utilized trauma-informed care through my entire social work career.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT in order to support clients in addressing their anxiety and depression, and to help shift out of that "worst case scenario" thinking. With CBT techniques, my goal is for clients to use the techniques in their everyday life to address their symptoms and behaviors. I utilize CBT techniques for the majority of my therapy clients.
Motivational Interviewing
I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) when supporting clients in wanting to make a change in their lives. What I love about MI, is that it really gives the power and autonomy to the client, which is extremely empowering! I have used MI with both therapy and case management clients.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT techniques, such a radical acceptance and interpersonal effectiveness skills, when working with clients. When I use DBT, I will often focus on building distress tolerance in clients. It is important for us all to have resilience, which will make stressful times more manageable.
