I have been doing strength-based, person centered work for 10+ years with teens and adults through all stages of life. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including crisis, in-patient, out-patient, community, and private settings. My aim is to help individuals establish goals for improving overall health and wellness while considering social, economic, and cultural needs. I use various evidence based approaches depending on what works best for you. I value the therapeutic alliance and focus on building resiliency and motivation for you to be the best version of your self, on your terms.
Sometimes the first step is the hardest and I aim to make the first session as relaxed and comfortable as possible. I bring my real self to the therapy office and encourage you to come as you are, too, and know that you will be respected and supported. My style is laid back, curious, and when appropriate, playful with some touches of humor. Difficult things don't always need to feel heavy, and you are not alone. The first session will focus on me getting to know you, you getting to know me, and together, developing ways to move forward so you can leave feeling like a weight has been lifted.
I offer a judgement free, relaxed space for you to share your story and find the clarity or direction you need. I bring curiosity and some challenge to help guide you to reach your goals. I have been described as non-judgmental, compassionate, empathetic, reflective, warm, solution focused, and strengths based. I value warm professionalism, using humor at times, and listening to understand rather than listening to respond. I know that looking for a therapist can leave a person feeling vulnerable and sometimes overwhelmed. I aim to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible. And always, if I am not the right fit for some reason, I am glad to offer recommendations to other skilled therapists.
