Amanda Faulling

PMHNP4 years of experience

Hi there, I’m Amanda! I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner based in North Carolina with over 14 years of experience in mental healthcare, including the past four years in advanced practice. While I didn’t initially envision specializing in pediatric mental health, it has become a truly meaningful and rewarding focus of my work. I understand that mental health challenges can feel overwhelming, but seeking support and treatment doesn’t have to be intimidating. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where clients and families feel comfortable, informed, and empowered throughout their care.

First session

You can expect a thorough and thoughtful evaluation process, which includes asking detailed questions to better understand you and/or your child. This is an essential part of getting to know your concerns, identifying what’s truly going on, and ensuring an accurate diagnosis. From there, we can move forward together in developing the most appropriate and effective medication plan.

Strengths

What distinguishes my approach is a commitment to meeting each client where they are, without judgment. I strive to reduce fear and uncertainty surrounding medication by providing clear, supportive guidance and education. I value collaboration and work closely with clients and families to develop a treatment plan that is both effective and aligned with their comfort level and goals.

Ideal clients

I specialize in working with children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges that impact their ability to function effectively in the home and school environment. This includes concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood instability, difficulties with attention or hyperactivity, challenges with peer relationships, and behavioral concerns across both home and school settings. My approach is centered on meeting each child or adolescent where they are developmentally and emotionally, with the goal of supporting them in achieving their fullest potential and overall success.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented type of talk therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected—and how changing unhelpful thoughts can improve how you feel and act.

Supportive

Supportive therapy (also called supportive psychotherapy) is a type of mental health treatment focused on helping a person cope with difficult emotions, stress, or life situations rather than deeply analyzing past experiences or changing personality patterns. In simple terms, It’s about support, encouragement, and practical help so you can function better day-to-day!
