Jason Strack
I have been practicing therapy for 21 years and with that wealth of experience and life experiences as well, I know how difficult making changes and internalizing changes can be. I work hard at building rapport and relationships with all of the people I work with. I want to get to know you as a person and identify your strengths, challenges and experiences, in order to better offer suggestions and strategies that are more likely to have a greater impact with you. I'm honest and direct and will offer my honest opinions to best serve you. I will bring in my sense of humor to therapy and meet you where ever you may be at in life.
First session
Our first session will an opportunity for us to get to know each other and see if my approach to therapy might be a good fit for you and your personality. I will collect some basic information that I will need, like demographics but then will allow you to share with me what is bringing you to therapy at this time in your life. I will guide the process by asking questions, gaining clarity and wanting to understand your perceptions. I will assist you in developing some goals and invite you to ask me any questions you might have about me or the therapeutic process. My first session with you is meant to build rapport and present to you that I do understand what you hope to accomplish with therapy.
Strengths
I'm a very attentive listener and have a unique ability to join and build rapport quickly with people. My approach to therapy is direct and to the point, I will not pull my punches when giving feedback but I will also create a safe space for you to explore things in a manner where there is no judgement, just compassion and understanding. I am honest but will also support you as you make changes. Change is not easy it takes time and attention and when you have someone who can support you on that journey, I think it makes all the difference and I will walk that path for you no matter how long or short it may be.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with individuals who are really wanting to make changes and enhance their quality of life. People who can come to therapy with a genuine and authentic self and are honest with what they are wanting help with. My approach to therapy is not for everyone. I can be very direct and honest with my feedback, however compassion and always putting the individuals needs first. I believe in the parallel process which just means that I struggle with the same things those people I serve do. I will be genuine with you and focus on building rapport with you so we can have difficult conversations that can be heavy but will also work very hard in helping you feel safe in the context of our counseling relationship.
Treatment methods
Family Therapy
All of us are intimately involved with multiple dynamics in our interpersonal relationships and this can make life very rewarding but also very challenging. When we become overwhelmed in life and life will continue to throw curve balls at us, we need to be able to identify stressors, patterns and the emotions that we are experiencing. Typically, our family of origin has shaped us and influenced us and family therapy will assist you in learning about your blind spots, your trauma responses and trauma bonds. Family therapy does not need the entire family present, it just accepts that we are all invloved in multiple systems throughout our lives and just one individual can impact a family system. Family therapy can address many different issues that you might be experiencing, from trauma to addiction.
Eclectic
Eclectic therapy just means that I will pull from many different approaches to therapy to best meet the needs of the individuals I'm currently working with. I'm a firm believer that I need to learn my audience, the client, and learn the best ways and approaches to meet their needs. I typically will pull form a solution focused approach, a family systems approach, experiential therapy and will also work closely with peoples religious or spiritual beliefs.
