I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and over 26 years of experience in education, including roles as a school counselor and an Educational Diagnostician. I have been working in the mental health field for over 19 years, providing compassionate and effective counseling to adolescents and adults up to age 65. I serve a diverse range of populations, including men, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those seeking faith-based guidance through Christian counseling. My practice includes working with couples to resolve conflicts, supporting families in strengthening their relationships, and tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each client. With a commitment to adaptability and care, I strive to create a safe and supportive space for personal growth and healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You can expect to be heard. As your counselor, my primary goal is to create a supportive and collaborative space where we can work together toward your growth and healing. In our initial sessions, we will begin by assessing your needs and understanding your desires for counseling. Together, we will set meaningful goals and develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your unique circumstances and aspirations. This treatment plan will be thoroughly reviewed, and we will ensure that you are comfortable with and agree to the approach we take. We will also establish the parameters for the type and style of therapy that best suits your preferences and goals. Additionally, I will provide you with all the necessary information regarding your rights and privileges as a client, so you feel informed and empowered throughout this process. My commitment is to support you every step of the way, ensuring that our work together is guided by respect, understanding, and a focus on achieving the outcomes that matter most to you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a professional counselor, one of my greatest strengths is my ability and willingness to adapt to the unique needs of each of my clients. I approach every individual with respect and an open mind, providing a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals without fear of judgment. My role is to serve as a nonjudgmental source of information and guidance, offering tailored support and evidence-based strategies to help clients navigate challenges and achieve meaningful growth. This adaptable and compassionate approach allows me to meet clients where they are and empower them to move forward confidently.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

Over the past 10 years, my experience with Christian counseling has been deeply fulfilling and transformative. By integrating faith-based principles with evidence-based therapeutic practices, I’ve been able to support clients in navigating life’s challenges while honoring their spiritual values. This approach has provided a unique framework for healing, fostering hope, and encouraging personal growth. Witnessing how faith can be a source of strength and resilience for clients has been a privilege, and it continues to shape my commitment to compassionate, holistic care.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

For the past 15 years, I have utilized Cognitive Focus Therapy (CFT) in my practice as an effective approach to help clients process and reframe past experiences. By identifying and addressing core thought patterns tied to past events, clients gain insight into how those patterns influence their present emotions and behaviors. Through CFT, I guide clients in developing healthier, more adaptive ways of thinking, empowering them to move forward with greater clarity and resilience. This method has proven invaluable in helping clients find meaning, healing, and growth from their experiences.

Compassion Focused

For the past 15 years, I have incorporated Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) into my practice as a powerful tool for processing past experiences. CFT helps clients understand and address self-criticism, shame, and other emotional wounds by fostering self-compassion and kindness. By creating a safe and supportive space, I guide clients to develop a compassionate inner voice, enabling them to reframe and heal from their past. This approach not only promotes emotional resilience but also empowers clients to build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Couples Counseling

In my practice, I provide couples therapy to help clients strengthen their relationships and address challenges in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. By fostering open communication, mutual understanding, and emotional connection, I assist couples in identifying and meeting each other’s needs. My approach is tailored to each couple, focusing on building healthy patterns, resolving conflicts, and deepening intimacy to create a stronger foundation for their relationship.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I integrate culturally sensitive therapy into my practice to honor the diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences of my clients. By creating a space that respects and values cultural perspectives, I help clients feel seen, heard, and understood. This approach allows me to tailor interventions to align with each client’s unique cultural context, fostering trust and promoting more effective therapeutic outcomes. Emphasizing cultural sensitivity not only enhances the client-therapist relationship but also enriches my practice by broadening my understanding and approach to healing.
