As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I specialize in women's mental health working with women 18 yrs. and older. I believe every woman is unique! I believe in the power of transformation and restoration if one is willing to do the work. As women, we go through different phases of life and each phase may bring challenges that impact our mental and emotional well-being. Therefore, as a therapist specializing in women's mental health, my approach is holistic, acknowledging ALL the areas of the client's life that are impacting her mental and emotional well-being. My approach is to work towards the total woman (if so desired and as needed), one area at a time if necessary if it is contributing to her mental health challenges. My passion for working with women is to help my clients identify obstacles to her mental and emotional wellbeing and issues she may feel has been and continues to "hold her hostage" in her own life thus interfering with her day to day functioning. One of my sincerest desires as a therapist is to see my clients transform into the best version of herself according to her standards, not the standards of society! I am passionate about motivating and empowering women to embrace who they are, celebrating their strengths and uniqueness, and hopefully, simultaneously giving each client a fresh perspective on her life despite the obstacles and challenges she may face. Despite whatever mental and emotional challenges my clients face, whether it is anxiety depression, or adjusting to life transitions, I believe if they do the work, they can live a successful, productive life while being mentally and emotionally stable. Let's begin your journey to transformation and restoration-whatever that may look like to YOU!
In our first session together, clients can expect a warm and welcoming setting where they can openly discuss their concerns and experiences. Clients can anticipate that I will ask questions about their reasons for seeking therapy, their current struggles, and their goals for therapy. This helps me gain an understanding of the client's situation allows me to tailor treatment accordingly. I may also inquire about the client's personal history including relevant relationships, family dynamics, and any previous therapy experiences if applicable to help develop a holistic picture of the client's life and provide valuable context for their current difficulties. We will begin the procress of understanding and working through their difficulties!
Every client has her OWN journey to share! With each individual client, I am able to remember the unique details/journeys of my clients' lives. I believe that strength contributes to not only building rapport, but also aides in building and maintaining trust in the therapeutic relationship and therapeutic process. An additional strength is my ability to identify a client's strengths and help her build on her own strengths as she works through healing and/or transformation process related to her mental and emotional health.
I use person centered therapy to create a safe and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard, accepted and supported. I help facilitate self-exploration to encourage clients to tap into their own inner resources and strengths to find solutions and make positive changes in their lives. Person-centered therapy is about honoring and respecting the uniqueness of individuals and working colloboratively to promote their personal growth and well-being.
With CBT therapy, I colloborate with clients to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that contribute to their difficulties. Through this process, I encourage clients to reframe negative thinking patterns and develop more adaptive and realistic thoughts.
In strength-based therapy, the focus is on identifying and utilizing a person's strengths, resources, and positive qualities to promote growth and well-being. I work colloboratively with clients to explore their unique strengths, talents, and abilities. Through a supportive and empowering approach, I help clients recognize and build upon their existing strengths to navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is helps clients accept their thoughts and feelings instead of fighting or avoiding them, while also committing to actions aligned with their values. It encourages psychological flexibility by promoting mindfulness and openness to experiences. In practice, my goal is to help clients identify their core values and use them as a guide to make meaningful changes in their behavior, despite uncomfortable emotions. By promoting acceptance, to clients are able to detach from unhelpful thought patterns and focus on taking committed action that leads to a more fulfilling life.
