(she/her)
I am licensed in Florida with 25 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with relationship issues, those diagnosed with personality disorders, coping with grief and loss, bipolar disorder, spiritual trauma/ issues & coping with life changes. I am LGBTQIA friendly and a personal ally. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
In our first session together, we will go over some guidelines for therapy and explore both of our expectations. I will gather psychosocial history and your reasons for coming to treatment. We will begin to see if we are a "fit" and if you gel with my personality and style. I try to present a laid back, yet professional atmosphere.
I have a good balance of empathy and boundaries which encourages a "down to earth" exchange of ideas. I utilize humor when possible but am serious when it counts. I approach people as individuals and not "walking diagnoses" or identities. I promote a environment where we can challenge each other and through that "banter" or exchange of ideas, a beautiful therapeutic alliance is formed, and healing occurs.

Schema Therapy
Schema therapy is a type of therapy that combines parts work, elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and emotion-focused therapy, among others. It’s an integrative approach that aims to treat personality disorders and other mental health concerns that don’t always respond to other treatment options. It can be particularly useful for treating borderline personality disorder.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-centered therapy, also known as Rogerian therapy or client-based therapy, employs a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a structured program of psychotherapy with a strong educational component designed to provide skills for managing intense emotions and negotiating social relationships. The “dialectic” in dialectical behavior therapy is an acknowledgment that real life is complex, and health is not a static thing but an ongoing process hammered out through a continuous Socratic dialogue with the self and others. It is continually aimed at balancing opposing forces and investigating the truth of powerful negative emotions.

Susan gets it! I feel heard, seen, and understood! She listens, digs to the root of the issue and makes helpful suggestions to better the circumstances. My spouse and I started therapy to work on communication and grow as a couple and we are seeing almost instant improvement! So happy we took this step!
