Maria Luisa Rodriguez
Hi! My name is Maria Luisa Rodriguez. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Southern California working with clients statewide via telehealth. I became licensed in 2018, but have been in the field since 2013 treating individuals with depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, and trauma. I have training in trauma-informed care, DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, PC Care and have experience working with individuals, families, and adolescents.
First session
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you've been feeling recently, and me asking questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
Strengths
My communication style is warm, direct, with a splash of sarcasm. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages who are building insight and considering making changes, but unsure how. As a result of my work in Child Welfare, I also enjoy both working with young adults in the transitioning age, learning independent living, and those who were in foster care system.

Eclectic
I place a lot of emphasis on building a treatment method that works for you. However, I also enjoy implementing CBT, Solution Focused and DBT skills into my work.
