Jennifer Benjamin
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, stress, or a major life transition, you may feel stuck or uncertain about what to do next. You don't have to face these challenges alone. As a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 40 years of healthcare experience, I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adolescents, adults, and older adults. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. I believe that healing begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. Together, we'll explore your concerns, identify your strengths, and develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals. Depending on your needs, treatment may include medication management, supportive therapy, and practical strategies to help you manage symptoms, build resilience, and improve your overall quality of life. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I have extensive experience helping individuals recover from childhood trauma, domestic violence, military-related trauma, and other difficult life experiences. I also work with clients experiencing mood disorders, PTSD, grief, life transitions, and substance use concerns. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and centered on the whole person—not just the diagnosis. I believe every individual has the capacity to heal and grow with the right support. Taking the first step toward treatment takes courage. Whether this is your first experience with mental health care or you're returning after time away, I'll meet you with compassion, respect, and practical guidance every step of the way. I look forward to partnering with you as you work toward greater emotional wellness, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to treatment, your symptoms, medical and mental health history, current concerns, and your goals for care. I'll take time to listen, answer your questions, and complete a comprehensive assessment. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that may include therapy, medication management, or both. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and supported in a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment as we begin your journey toward healing.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is creating a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can be yourself. Growing up in Jamaica, I learned the importance of community, resilience, and supporting one another through life's challenges. As someone who has also experienced the process of adapting to a new culture, I understand how difficult it can be to feel misunderstood or judged. From our very first session, my priority is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and emotionally safe. My culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach values your unique experiences and beliefs while providing compassionate, unbiased care that fosters trust, healing, and personal growth.
