As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I offer education and experience with helping everyday people understand the relationship between their mental, emotional, and physical state, and how these aspects affect their day-to-day lives. People should feel empowered to manage stress, negative thoughts, and adverse experiences. However, many factors hold them back. Through my intervention, I’ve helped to increase emotional awareness and motivation, providing clients with the sense of peace that we all ultimately deserve.
My passion has always been to meet clients where they are and provide them with a safe space to understand themselves and their lives. I wish to normalize therapeutic healing. Through many avenues, this is possible. What typically brings people to therapy is how they feel in the present moment. After analyzing the present, we will take a look into the past, through reflection of your life experiences and the ways in which they have shaped you today. Through this process, we will paint a clearer picture of the future, allowing for hope, motivation, and a path for continued growth. It begins with the first session in which all you have to do is show up as yourself.
My personal passion is the commitment to ensuring that the miseducation and minimization of mental health does not continue holding people back. I maintain an array of skills and experiences to guide people on their own journey to accessing a fulfilling life. My aim is always to provide a safe space for all people to feel like their best selves and to enjoy life every step of the way.
For nearly any client I’ve had the privilege to work with, it starts with a grounding experience. One must first gauge their needs to assess the skills needed to address them. I walk that path with each client to influence continued growth. I aim to teach clients about emotional intelligence first and foremost as a foundation, coupled with the authentic experience of being introduced to numerous modalities as their therapeutic experience unfolds.
CBT is an excellent foundational treatment method, as it focuses on the interplay of thoughts, feelings, and actions. In my therapeutic experience, many people feel stuck in their lives. I believe in the concept that when you change your perspective, you change your life.
Psychoeducation is imperative. In simplest terms, it's all about learning. My aim is to empower clients by giving you the tools and knowledge you need to continue the therapeutic work well after the session is over. Psychoeducation will equip you with the tools needed for your toolbox!
Oftentimes, we find ourselves focused on our weaknesses and shortcomings. With a Strength-Based approach, I will equip you to understand how to leverage your strengths instead, as this is meant to empower and motivate. Consider this, you come to therapy with your strengths and we work together to ensure you reach your fullest potential.
I practice compassion in everything I do, personally and professionally. With this modality, I will encourage you to adopt a mind of compassion and direct it within. I tell my clients that you are the only person who spends every second of every day with yourself. If your mind isn't a safe space for you, we have to change that. Addressing negative self-concept and building self-compassion are two ways to start.
As a BIPOC woman, I have a vast awareness of the ways in which intersectionality, culture, and life experience can shape us as individuals. Nonetheless, I believe that each person is the expert of their experience. I always aim to validate those experiences while also teaching clients how to rewrite their story and ultimately establish an understanding of self, i.e. identity, that is the most healing to them.
