Do you have trouble prioritizing yourself or often feel guilty when doing so? Do you feel anxious, burnt out, or just stuck? Do you wish you could change some aspect of your life for the better? You deserve to feel better and to be empowered in creating the life you want for yourself. We can work together to get you where you want to be. My therapeutic approach is culturally sensitive, person-centered, and strength-based. I utilize a mix of evidence-based treatment interventions, which I tailor to your identified need areas. Sessions are led with warmth and compassion. I value your feedback and will tailor the pace of the counseling process to your comfort level while also gently challenging you to grow into the life you envision for yourself. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) with 11 years experience in the community mental health sector. In the past five years, I have held leadership roles at various organizations. I am educated and trained in clinical mental health counseling and behavioral medicine. I practice with honesty, integrity, and clear communication. I am currently practicing via Telehealth and not able to offer office appointments at this time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will introduce ourselves, I will review expectations for treatment (e.g. privacy, communication boundaries, crisis planning, etc.) and my role and responsibilities as a mandated reporter. I will also answer any questions or concerns about the counseling process, especially if this is your first time seeking treatment. We will discuss your presenting concerns and collaborate in treatment planning. And sometimes my dog may poke her head in to say hello!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My specialty in behavioral medicine informs my approach to counseling in that I incorporate knowledge of neuroscience, psychopharmacology, physical illness, and health practices into your treatment plan and care.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have enjoyed working with adults in all life stages, diverse backgrounds, and with a wide-range of need areas.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidenced-based treatment modality that works on the interconnectedness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The ultimate goal is for clients to get to a place of identification, recognition, and management by changing at least one of the three connection points. This is typically done through identifying and challenging distorted thinking patterns that have led to maladaptive coping skills.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally Sensitive Therapy is an approach to therapy that de-centers the dominant culture and emphasizes the client's background and beliefs in relation to their ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender, and other aspects of their identity that are important. Treatment planning emphasizes these elements instead of asking the client to conform to the standards set by the dominant group.

Eclectic

An eclectic approach to therapy is one that is multi-faceted and draws upon multiple theoretical orientations to provide the client with a comprehensive treatment plan and meet all of the client's need areas.

Feminist

Contrary to what the name purports, Feminist therapy is beneficial for everyone as it recognizes that symptoms do not occur in a vacuum. It examines biases, discrimination, and disparities, that have arisen in cultural, social, and political contexts and the impact these have on mental and physical wellbeing.
