Hollie Cushen
I have worked as a therapist for the past 15 years, beginning my career as a case manager and therapeutic foster care worker. I earned my undergraduate degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore County and my master’s degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore. Through these roles, I developed extensive experience supporting adolescents, teens, and young adults as they navigate the challenges of development, peer pressure, identity, and the transition into adulthood. I have also supported parents in strengthening relationships, improving communication, and managing the challenges of parenting. After working in foster care, I continued my clinical work as an in-home family therapist, helping families navigate mental health and behavioral concerns while addressing family dynamics, communication patterns, and relationships. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to providing compassionate, strengths-based, and collaborative care. As I continue to grow as a clinician and now serve as a clinical supervisor, I bring both clinical experience and a passion for supporting others in their growth, healing, and personal development.

Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a framework to help clients identify the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through a collaborative and strengths-based approach, I support clients in recognizing unhelpful thought patterns, exploring how these patterns impact their feelings and actions, and developing healthier coping strategies. I incorporate CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, problem-solving, mindfulness-based strategies, and skill-building exercises to help clients increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, and work toward their goals. I tailor CBT interventions to each client’s individual needs, experiences, and readiness for change while maintaining a supportive and therapeutic relationship.
