Hello, my name is Donna McDowell. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been providing therapeutic support to adults for over 15 years. I endeavor to provide a warm and safe environment in which my clients can feel comfortable opening up and sharing their life experiences, challenges, thoughts, feelings and concerns. I value my clients input and look forward to our collaboration in working toward your goals. I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress. I help individuals recognize and address maladaptive habits and thought processes. I utilize evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused, Acceptance Therapy, Mindfulness and Christian Counseling.
In our first session we will spend time getting acquainted with one another. You will be able to tell me about yourself, share with me the concerns that brought you to counseling. make me aware of what you would like to have support with and identify your goals. We will discuss how the therapeutic process flows and I will address any questions or concerns that you may have. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, safe, respected, heard and understood in my setting.
My biggest strength is my unconditional positive regard for each person and my ability to journey along with each individual. I offer support unique to each person based on their presenting circumstances and specific needs. I help individuals discover their strengths and build the skills needed to enhance their lives. I endeavor to help each person learn to thrive in spite of the obstacles that they face in life.

I have found this therapy effective in helping individual manage problems by changing harmful thought patterns and behaviors. By helping individuals to identify and challenge distorted, irrational or negative thinking and replace them with realistic, positive and constructive thoughts.

I have found this approach to therapy to be effective in helping individuals to heal from relational trauma, fostering secure, trusting relationships by exploring early life experiences. It serves to improve emotional regulation, reduce anxiety and depression, develop a self-esteem, enhance communication, and the ability to break unhealthy attachment patterns.

I have found this approach to enhance well-being by empowering individuals through empathy, respect, and autonomy, leading to better mental health outcomes and higher satisfaction. It fosters self-awareness, confidence, and personal growth while reducing anxiety, depression and stress.
