My name is Patricia, but I go by Trish. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor who is passionate about helping you find your path and live a life you are happy to embrace. I have over 26 years assisting those who are challenged by addictions, codependency, grief, life transitions, mood disorders and trauma come to a turning point and release their chains and darkness and open themselves up to light and life. My therapy sessions are a space where you can enjoy a safe and empathic environment designed to listen to your story and assist you in curating a plan using evidence- based approaches to help you identify and reach your personal goals. I will provide compassionate care balanced by challenging you to commit to yourself for the time we are together. We will explore coping options to allow you to pursue emotional freedom, find increased acceptance of self and others and better align your life choices so your life reflects your dreams.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will begin to know one another and I can answer any questions you have about the process. We will identify historical and current challenges, strengths and what you would like to receive from our time together. The assessment will be thorough but is also ongoing. Once we are both clear on what brought you in and what you are looking for we will begin establishing the working plan for our time together. Your treatment plan will be specific and reflective of your goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths lie in creating a safe and accepting environment where people can let their hair down and speak and emote in authentic ways. Masks are not required and there are no illusions of perfection. I enjoy helping people connect the dots in their lives so they can see that their current situation in understandable, even if not appreciated, and that coping responses that helped survival can be honored and appreciated even as they are modified to become more adaptive. I champion those who work with me to focus on solutions, and the number one solution is you, really!! I work with you to help move your focus from external to internal- so you are the one who gets the credit for your progress! My personal journey of recovery from trauma, addiction and other challenges has offered me personal insight in addition to my education and continued training so I can empathize, even if our situations are not identical. I really enjoy getting to know the individual's life brings along beside me. I learn from you as well and am consistently amazed at the resilience and recovery that are on display each day I work. The challenges to change patterns, automatic thoughts and behaviors is real. But recovery and freedom is not only possible, but probable. And you can start the journey TODAY.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Over the last 26 years, I have enjoyed partnering with individuals 18-98 who are looking to make changes and are recognizing the path they are on is not working. I have extensive background working with individuals impacted by childhood and adult trauma, addictions, military experiences, codependency, medical issues, life transitions, mood or personality disorders and grief. I enjoy assisting people in reclaiming parts of themselves that got lost along the way as life happened. I also am skilled at helping individuals review life history and build what was missing or enhance current strengths hidden by the weight they are carrying. As we develop coping skills we can bring the life you desire into focus and move you toward in a compassionate and supportive manner.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT in my practice for years. How we feel stems from how we perceive and respond to internal and external events. Our minds can be bombarded by thoughts and learning how to identify and modify unhelpful thoughts leads to freedom for both mind and body. Learning to read your bodies cues and tune in to the thoughts that can derail us from our goals is the first step in learning to rewire your brain.

Strength-Based

Focusing on strengths, tapping into gratitude and awareness of the small "WINS" along the way helps motivate individuals to notice and embrace the journey and release stress of comparisons and perfectionism.

Psychoeducation

As part of my practice I provide education on diagnoses, treatment approaches that are proven to help for that diagnoses and work with the individual to find the best fit for coping skills development.

EMDR

I have found EMDR to be a great approach for trauma as it limits long discussions of trauma, which can be triggering, and works neurologically with the body to move individuals to a feeling of completion to eliminate triggers. I do a complete evaluation and assess for appropriateness before starting this intervention.

Faith based therapy

I enjoy supporting those who are struggling in their faith walk yet still believe ,as well as those who have been hurt and wonder if God exists. I fully support all faith walks, as many who are recovering from trauma and/or substance use are spiritual seekers.
