Michelle Ybarra
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 14 years of experience in helping others. I am an Army veteran and have served children, adults, couples, military members and their families. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and have seen great results when using this method with my clients.
I am a veteran, retired military spouse, and have dealt with grief on a personal level, which I believe helps me to be more empathetic for my clients.
I am also trained in grief therapy and have dealt with grief on a personal level, which I believe helps me to be more empathetic for my clients going through major life changes.
First session
Our first session will be just getting to know each other and exploring your concerns and reasons for seeking therapy. I believe that a great therapist/client relationship is built on trust and communication, so I like to use the first session to start building that relationship and helping you feel comfortable opening up to me.
Strengths
My ability to be empathetic and listen to my clients has helped me be a successful therapist. I also have a lot of years of experience in therapy and have helped my clients navigate many different stages of life.
Ideal clients
I best serve individuals who are navigating meaningful life transitions and seeking support to regain balance and clarity. My ideal clients may be experiencing grief, relationship challenges, or adjustment difficulties related to changes in family dynamics, career, or daily life. They are often motivated for growth, open to reflection, and looking to better understand themselves while building healthier coping strategies, improving communication, and creating a more fulfilling and stable sense of well-being.
Treatment methods
Trauma-Focused CBT
I have over 10 years of experience in this treatment method and have found it to be very helpful for a multitude of mental health issues. Patients respond well to this method and have received positive feedback when using it in therapy.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use this method for adjustment disorders and when life throws a curve ball that needs working through.
Attachment-based
Attachment styles have a big impact on interpersonal relationships. Helping to understand your attachment style can improve your relationships.
