I’m Dr. George Villarose, a licensed psychologist who works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, and high-functioning autism. I also help clients navigate life stressors, including relationship difficulties, work and vocational concerns, and chronic pain. My experience conducting vocational evaluations has given me a deeper understanding of how emotional and cognitive challenges can affect work and daily life. I bring a warm, collaborative style to therapy, grounded in empathy and careful listening. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and practical problem solving to help clients make meaningful changes.

First session

n our first session, I’ll take time to understand what brings you to therapy, what has been difficult, and what you hope will change. You can share at a pace that feels comfortable; we’ll also talk about what kind of support would be most helpful to you. Because I work with clients individually, I can tailor our sessions to your concerns and preferences. I hope you leave feeling heard, more comfortable with the process, and clearer about how we might work together.

Strengths

I bring warmth, empathy, and careful listening to each session. I work collaboratively with clients to understand what they need and how they prefer to work. Some people benefit most from space to reflect and process their thoughts and feelings; others also want practical strategies and a stronger focus on problem solving. I draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), adapting those approaches to each client’s goals and preferences.

Ideal clients

Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why the same difficulties keep arising. They may be dealing with anxiety, mood concerns, relationship difficulties, work stress, chronic pain, or challenges with attention and executive functioning. Some want space to understand their thoughts and feelings; others are looking for practical ways to make changes. My goal is to meet each person where they are and work together toward what matters most to them.

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients make room for difficult thoughts and feelings while taking steps toward what matters to them. I integrate these approaches based on each client’s needs and preferences, often using brief between-session assignments to help them apply what we discuss in daily life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize how their thoughts and behaviors may contribute to difficulties they are experiencing and to practice different ways of responding.
