Kim Mackay
If you’re seeking therapy that honors the depth of your story while helping you live more fully in the present and in alignment with your values, I invite you to reach out. Together, we’ll explore how lived experiences continue to shape how you see yourself and move through the world. I provide therapy to help restore stability and trust for those who have experienced trauma or relational wounds such as loss, chronic invalidation, coercive control, neglect, and abuse.
First session
Seeking support is a meaningful step. From the start of our work together, we will create a space that feels grounded, intentional, and deeply human, with open and honest communication at its foundation.
Strengths
Experience across levels of care (including inpatient, PHP, and IOP) and extensive training in evidence-based modalities: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) DBT for Complex PTSD Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) Seeking Safety for Co-occurring Trauma and Substance Abuse Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
Ideal clients
I specialize in working with young adults, teens, and caregivers navigating emotional pain, overwhelm, and life challenges. For many of my clients, this includes loss, transitions, abuse, neglect, intergenerational trauma, and harmful patterns maintained across families, cultures, institutions, and broader systems. I also work with athletes and performance-driven individuals facing intense demands, competitive dynamics, setbacks, identity shifts, and life beyond sport, drawing on my experience as a former Division I collegiate athlete. I integrate a sports psychology lens when achievement pressure, ambition, discipline, and high standards intersect with self-concept, trauma, or burnout.
