Elizabeth Diez
Hi! My name is Elizabeth and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than five years of experience in the field. I specialize in helping clients navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and grief. I provide mental health therapy in a safe and supportive virtual space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. I use evidence-based therapies including CBT in order to help clients identify and reframe negative thought patterns and CFT in order to regulate emotions and create inner safety. My approach is collaborative and compassionate. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. Therapy is centered and tailored to your goals. Together, we will build a path towards healing and balance, improving the quality of your life.
First session
Starting therapy can feel intimidating and bring uncertainty. I want you to know that it is completely valid and understandable. I also want to acknowledge that you are being very brave in reaching out for help. Our first session is designed to understand what brought you to therapy as well as starting to build rapport and trust so you can feel as comfortable as possible in future sessions. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with. I am here to meet you where you are and help you overcome difficulties at your own pace. During the first session, you can share about the challenges you are facing and your hopes for therapy. You can also ask questions about the therapeutic process and what to expect in future sessions. I will listen to you with empathy and respect. My hope is that this first session helps you feel the confidence you need to start your healing journey.
Strengths
It is important to understand that most of us are going through or have gone through difficulties in our lives. This is not a bad thing. In fact, those who have faced the most challenges tend to be the most resilient. I am a therapist, but I am also a human being and as so, I have also experienced my good share of struggles, such as bullying when I was a child, but I am grateful for it because they have made me the person I am today. I am a strong woman who became a therapist committed to help others. I want you to know I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and many clients come to me because they want an inclusive therapist who understands both their language and their culture. Clients describe me as warm, genuine, and easy to talk to. I am also a good listener and non-judgmental. My approach is collaborative and empathetic so you can feel safe being yourself. Outside of therapy, I am passionate about practicing Tai Chi and spending time with family and friends. I hope that together; we can create a journey towards healing and growth.
Ideal clients
Do sadness, anxiety, and self-doubt limit your life? I want you to know that you are not alone and that these experiences are understandable. I am here to help you through it. In our sessions we will explore what you are going through, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and build coping skills and self-confidence. My ideal clients are those who want to be heard and are willing to engage in the growth process by showing up consistently and collaborating during the sessions. My hope is that you leave therapy feeling more grounded, supported, and empowered to make the changes you want in your life.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My experience with this method has been very positive with many of my clients showing improvement during sessions. I work in collaboration with my clients in order to identify negative thought patterns and behaviors, teaching them the skills to challenge and reframe these negative patterns in order to improve the quality of their life.
Compassion-Focused
With this method, many of my patients has shown positive results. During sessions, I teach my clients to develop a compassionate self to counter negative feelings such as self-criticism and shame using for example mindfulness and exercises to cultivate kindness towards yourself and others in order to build emotional safety.
