My approach is tailored to the whole person. Drawing on my training in medicine and an integrative way of thinking, I try to think carefully about emotional difficulties within the broader context of a person’s physical health, relationships, history, environment, and culture. My work is grounded in careful listening and a genuine curiosity about how each person's mind functions, often with therapy at the center. elaborate

First session

During our initial consultation, we will explore what brings you in, your previous experiences with treatment, and what you hope may be different moving forward. For some, this becomes the beginning of an ongoing therapeutic relationship; for others, it provides a valuable opportunity to gain other perspectives. Any recommendations, treatment plans, or next steps are developed collaboratively, with an emphasis on open discussion and shared decision-making.

Strengths

I approach each patient as an individual, tailoring treatment to their unique needs and circumstances, with careful listening at the center of my work. I often work with adults interested in combining psychological insight with practical change with or without psychiatric medications. When medication is considered, I view it as one possible component of treatment rather than an automatic starting point, and I take time to discuss its potential benefits, limitations, and alternatives. I also welcome discussion of complementary approaches, including mindfulness, body-based practices, and other alternative treatments that can enrich treatment.

Ideal clients

Many of the people I work with are psychologically curious, but may feel stuck in patterns they have struggled to change on their own. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, questions of identity or purpose, or a more general sense that something in their life is not working as it should. They may also be curious about the potential role of psychiatric medication while wanting to consider it carefully rather than viewing it as an automatic solution. I approach medication as one possible part of a broader treatment process, taking into account the person’s emotional life, physical health, relationships, values, culture, and individual circumstances. The aim is to develop a treatment approach that supports both deeper self-understanding and concrete movement toward a more satisfying and sustainable way of living.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Psychodynamic therapy explores how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious emotionals may influence the way you feel and relate to others. Not just with understanding difficult emotions, but their movement, their loosening, the small and sometimes large ways a life can open up.

Psychodynamic

Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT, is a structured form of therapy that looks at how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. It helps you identify patterns that may be contributing to distress and practice more helpful ways of thinking and responding.

Mind-body approach

Mind-body approaches focus on the connection between emotional experience and physical sensations. They may include practices such as mindfulness, breathing exercises, movement, relaxation, or body awareness to help reduce stress, regulate the nervous system, and increase a sense of stability and presence.
