Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I honor the courage it takes. I’m here to support you without judgment—just understanding, compassion, and a genuine desire to help you grow. The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I feel like my greatest strengths are that I am genuine, non-judgmental and truly care about you and value you as a person and take personal pride in helping you through whatever obstacles you may be facing. I know that life can feel so overwhelming and intimidating. I have compassion and experience to deeply understand that. The most common compliment that I have received over the past 25 years of my counseling experience is that I am honest, easy to talk to, show incredible empathy and genuinely listen and care. I am proud to say that I agree with these compliments because it exemplifies exactly who I am.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I prioritize making our time a safe place for you to explore your deepest concerns with integrity and confidentiality, embracing acceptance and non-judgement. I use this time to help you grow mentally and emotionally and perhaps even spiritually and physically, depending on your needs. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT and Solution Focused Therapy along with many supporting treatment modalities. Overall, my approach is making sure my clients feel heard, genuinely valued and understood, as well as designing treatment plans tailored to each client's individual and personal goals and needs. I make sure we collaborate to make your treatment goals together!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized CBT therapy in countless situations with clients for many years. This type of talk therapy is also called psychotherapy. I use it to help clients become more aware of their thinking patterns that may be creating issues in their lives, particularly negative and self-defeating ones. Looking at the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors helps you view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. CBT can be a very helpful tool in treating many mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, also called PTSD, or an eating disorder.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on helping people change unhelpful thought patterns. DBT takes those CBT ideas or challenging unhelpful thought patterns, but also adds additional elements like mindfulness, acceptance and distress tolerance and interpersonal skills to give you more tools for dealing with hard situations. I have had much success in utilizing DBT within the counseling environment for many years.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution Focused Therapy for many clients, as this focuses on finding solutions to their problems, either brief or long term. I find my clients love this modality, as they are often searching for the right decisions to make or the changes they should make to make progress in their lives. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes clients’ strengths and resources to create positive change, focusing on present and future goals rather than past problems. It’s brief, goal-oriented, and emphasizes solutions rather than delving into underlying issues. The focus is on the client’s health rather than the problem, strengths rather than weaknesses or deficits, and skills, resources, and coping abilities that would help reach future goals. Clients describe what they want to happen in their lives (solutions) and how they will use personal resources to solve their problems. Clients are encouraged to believe that positive changes are always possible and are encouraged to increase the frequency of current useful behaviors. However, sometimes clients have more long-term goals to work on that requires digging a bit deeper into the root of the problems and reasons for decisions made in the past to find more long-term solutions. Regardless, Solution Focus is a fantastic modality for clients!

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This is yet another form of CBT that helps individuals develop psychological flexibility to better cope with difficult thoughts and emotions, ultimately leading to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. I like utilizing this method because it helps my clients accept uncomfortable thoughts and feelings rather than trying to eliminate them. This is especially helpful if clients simply cannot stop their negative self-talk patterns or difficult overwhelming anxiety that exists even after attempting several techniques to stop or change them. This helps them to rather accept them and learn to cope and manage them rather than focusing on eliminating them without success.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I like to incorporate this method in my sessions, when appropriate, as it is a humanistic, evidenced-based approach to psychotherapy. It focuses on helping individuals, couples and families build secure and fulfilling relationships. I aim to help my clients identify and transform negative emotional and interaction patterns that cause distress. I use it to emphasize the role of emotions in shaping our experiences and interactions, promoting emotional awareness and regulation to foster healthier relationships. It has been very successful in my years of providing counseling.
