I am a nurse practitioner (NP) with a focus in psychiatry and family medicine (anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, etc.). I have 10 years of experience working in the healthcare field. I have an extensive background in women's health and family medicine, but I later transitioned into psychiatry, working with patients with mental illness and substance abuse issues. I feel compelled to help people with mental health issues due to the scarcity of service and the stigma that exists in this branch of medicine. While it is essential to function efficiently and overcome everyday challenges, unfortunately for some, it is just not possible because of mental deficits brought about by varying circumstances. I'm passionate about providing patients with quality, evidence-based, and affordable care. Patient-centeredness is of the utmost importance and leads to more successful patient outcomes.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My experiences with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) have been overwhelmingly positive. It is an effective therapeutic approach that I often use in my practice, particularly for assisting clients in identifying and modifying maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors. In the context of CBT, I collaborate with clients to examine their thoughts, beliefs, and emotional responses, facilitating a deeper understanding of how these elements interact. Together, we develop tailored strategies aimed at altering their perspectives and behaviors. By deconstructing complex issues into smaller, more manageable components, CBT empowers clients to cultivate skills that enhance their ability to navigate challenging situations. Ultimately, this approach not only fosters greater resilience but also contributes significantly to the improvement of their overall mental health and well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

My experience with motivational interviewing method has been positive. It is a patient-centered approach that focuses on exploring and resolving ambivalence about behavior change. I use it in my practice by listening actively, reflecting, and summarizing the client's thoughts. This helps them gain self-awareness and make informed decisions about their well-being. Motivational interviewing promotes autonomy and empowerment, leading to increased motivation and engagement in treatment.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy is a holistic approach that emphasizes the present moment and the development of self-awareness. I have used this method in my practice to help clients reduce stress, improve emotional well-being, and enhance overall quality of life. Through mindfulness techniques, such as meditation, body scanning, and mindful exercises, I guide clients to cultivate a sense of non-judgment and acceptance, enabling them to become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Mindfulness-based therapy helps individuals develop a greater sense of control over their lives and promotes overall well-being

Compassion Focused

I have experience using the compassion-focused therapy method in my practice. It involves helping clients develop self-compassion and cultivate a compassionate mindset. I guide clients in developing awareness of their emotions and thoughts, encouraging them to approach themselves with kindness and understanding. By practicing self-compassion, clients can cope with life's challenges with greater resilience and improve their overall well-being.
