I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 9 years of experience in a partial hospital setting, inpatient setting, and private practice setting. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy in addition to others depending on the needs of the individual. I graduated from UTSA with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and pursued my Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling at Texas A&M San Antonio.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Typically during an initial session, this is a chance for me to get to know them a little more and discuss what brings them to counseling and what kind of goals we can set up together and figure out a plan on how to meet those goals in our counseling sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been told by other clients that I am easy to talk to and create a safe space for them to be able to talk about things and feel comfortable. I have 9 years of experience in the mental health field and can bring a lot of eclectic and holistic approaches in developing a way to meet goals and how to use coping skills.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I typically work with clients who are struggling with mood disorders and are trying to manage their symptoms and behaviors. Sometimes talking about how their mood disorders or life stressors/changes is a way for them to have thought provoking discussions, self exploration and also learn coping skills to help them when they are struggling on those harder days.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I allow clients to openly discuss their belief system and incorporate prayer when/if needed or requested.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This is used to combat negative intrusive thoughts to help with thought stopping or thought re-framing to help manage the symptoms and behaviors.

Grief Therapy

The stages of grief are discussed along with support for how people cope and deal with grief differently.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Utilizing coping skills to help ground our thoughts and feelings can be a way to help get our mind-body connection restored and back to a more manageable baseline.

Narrative

Allowing the client to discuss on their own what their journey has looked like and share the parts of their story that make them who they are and where they want to be in the future.
