Hello, I'm Kari Wright. Congratulations! on being courageous and seeking support at this time. You did it! you are taking a moment for yourself. Starting counseling can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. Do you want to feel better, know what's normal in grief, or better equip yourself to manage stress? I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore life's challenges. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Many clients often come to therapy thinking the first session will 'make things better.' The first few sessions are really about getting to know each other. I will ask several clarifying questions based on the paperwork you have submitted and we will hone in on the goals you want to accomplish. I tend to utilize homework between sessions so that our time is impactful and you feel like you have achieved something week to week.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been in the social work profession for 20 years with many different experiences. I am great at asking just the right questions and love to use journaling prompts to get to the root of what you are experiencing. I like to establish specific goals for you to work on so that you know there is progress week to week.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I’ve been using EMDR in my practice for the past ten years. It's a unique treatment where you can't quite put your finger on what happened, but you know things have 'shifted' in your perspective, coping, and overall well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 20 years.CBT helps challenge reoccurring thoughts and increase coping skills. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a stressed life.

Grief Therapy

Not all therapists understand how grief works. I am comfortable giving you the place and space to cry and heal through one of the most vulnerable times of your life. I spent 15 years in hospice and have experienced my own loss to understand the depths of grief.
