Danielle Dobias
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado, I strive to create a therapeutic space where you feel safe, seen, and accepted as your authentic self. My approach is grounded in honesty, compassion, authenticity, and humor, because I believe meaningful growth can happen when we feel comfortable enough to show up as we are—including the messy, complicated, and imperfect parts of being human. I take a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that honors your resilience, recognizes your existing strengths, and respects your unique experiences. I also recognize that our lives are shaped not only by personal experiences but by the systems, social structures, and sociopolitical factors around us. I aim to understand the whole picture rather than view challenges in isolation.
My role is not to tell you who to be or what your journey should look like, but to walk alongside you as we explore what matters most to you, navigate challenges, and work toward meaningful change.
Above all, I believe you are the expert in your own experience. My role is not to tell you who to be or what your journey should look like, but to walk alongside you as we explore what matters most to you, navigate challenges, and work toward meaningful change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to meet you with curiosity, respect, and a healthy dose of humor along the way.
First session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a connection in a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable showing up just as you are. I believe that feeling safe, understood, and accepted is an essential part of the therapeutic process, and I prioritize building a foundation of trust and connection at a pace that feels right for you. During our time together, I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any background or experiences you feel are important to share. We’ll explore what you’re hoping to gain from therapy and discuss how I can best support you in working toward those goals. There is no expectation to have everything figured out or to share more than you feel ready to. My goal is to meet you where you are, honor your unique experiences, and create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported as we begin this journey together.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to build authentic, collaborative relationships grounded in trust, honesty, and compassion. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable showing up as their full selves, without fear of judgment or the pressure to have everything figured out. I bring warmth, curiosity, and humor into my work, recognizing that therapy can hold space for both difficult emotions and moments of lightness. My trauma-informed and strengths-based approach allows me to recognize the resilience, skills, and wisdom clients already possess while honoring the experiences that have shaped them. I value collaboration and believe clients are the experts in their own lives. Rather than assuming I have the answers, I approach each person with openness and a willingness to learn from their unique perspective. I also bring a strong awareness of how systemic barriers, community dynamics, and sociopolitical factors influence mental health and well-being. I strive to understand clients within the context of their lived experiences rather than viewing their challenges in isolation. Ultimately, my strengths lie in my ability to connect with people authentically, hold space for complexity, and support clients in identifying their own strengths and creating meaningful change on their terms.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an adolescent, young adult, or adult who is open to self-exploration, curiosity, and personal growth. They are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, identifying patterns that may be impacting their lives, and developing tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and intention. My ideal client is reflective, goal-oriented, and willing to engage in the therapeutic process. They may be navigating life transitions, working through emotional or relational challenges, or seeking greater clarity about who they are and who they want to become. They are open to exploring new perspectives, challenging familiar ways of thinking, and discovering strengths that support meaningful change. I value working with clients who are willing to show up authentically, ask questions, and approach their experiences with curiosity and a desire to grow. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, build self-awareness, and work toward goals that align with their values and aspirations.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions while building a life aligned with what matters most to them. Through a compassionate, nonjudgmental approach, I help clients increase self-awareness, practice acceptance, and develop practical tools for navigating anxiety, stress, self-doubt, and life’s challenges. Together, we focus on making meaningful changes, taking values-based action, and moving toward greater flexibility, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through a collaborative and supportive approach, I help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and build practical skills to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and everyday challenges.
Attachment-based
I incorporate attachment-based approaches into my work to help clients understand how early relationships and life experiences may influence their emotional well-being, relationship patterns, and sense of self. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore relational experiences, recognize patterns that may no longer serve them, and develop greater trust, emotional security, and self-awareness. Together, we work to strengthen healthy boundaries, improve communication, navigate relationship challenges, and build more secure and fulfilling connections with themselves and others.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills into my work to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, manage stress, and navigate challenging situations with greater confidence and self-awareness. I support clients in developing practical skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation. Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, I help clients recognize emotional patterns, tolerate difficult feelings, communicate their needs effectively, and establish healthy boundaries.
Trauma-Informed Care
I take a trauma-informed approach to therapy, recognizing how past experiences can shape a person’s sense of safety, relationships, emotional well-being, and view of themselves and the world. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. I prioritize trust, collaboration, choice, and emotional safety while honoring each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and pace of healing.
