Hi there, I'm Dr. Christina Papadopoulos. Have you ever wondered whether therapy could be helpful? Has the idea of finding a provider or starting the process ever seemed scary or daunting? As a clinical psychologist, I understand the importance of building rapport and trust, as we pave the way for working together towards your goals and what you would like to get out of therapy. I aim to create a supportive and non-judgmental space so that my clients feel safe to explore needs, wants, inner conflicts and vulnerabilities. I utilize evidence based strategies to best meet your needs, whether that involves uncovering root causes of negative beliefs and thinking patterns, reviewing coping tools to address symptoms of anxiety and depression, exploring relationship dynamics and stressors or processing past trauma that continues to impact you in your day to day life. If you have been feeling stressed, unhappy or overwhelmed and are curious how to bring about change in your life, then schedule a session with me and let's see if we're a good fit!
During our first session, the focus will be to explore what prompted you to start therapy and what areas you would like help with. By identifying some goals we can have a sort of outline for how therapy can best meet your needs. Over the course of treatment, these goals can be adjusted or changed as needed. My hope is that you come away from sessions with either a better understanding of yourself and your patterns of behavior and/or tools to better cope with challenging emotions or stressful situations.
I have a background in both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic therapies. Cognitive behavioral therapy aims to examine negative thinking patterns and beliefs that might be contributing to behaviors or symptoms that are causing disruption in your life. I provide you with the tools to bring about change to thoughts and behaviors that are no longer serving you and to identify and utilize your strengths. Psychodynamic approaches allow us to dig deeper into the root causes of what is contributing to current symptoms and brings about more insight into what makes you tick.
My biggest strength as a clinician is meeting the client where they are at in their journey towards self-understanding and growth. I provide compassion and warmth in order to build trust in the therapy relationship so that you feel comfortable and empowered to work on the things you need to work on. I am particularly helpful when working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, life stressors and transitions, and relationship difficulties.
